So Gryz in the playoffs…

All the Corsi/Fancy stats point to a guy who is above average in the playoffs.

The actual results in 40-odd games tell the story of a guy with a bad +\- and that’s what the anti-Gryz crowd points to.

Here is some food for thought, when Gryz is playing with McAvoy in the playoffs he has a positive GF%. Still unlucky compared to the fancy stats, but not some disaster.

When playing with John Moore, Jeremy Lauzon or Connor Clifton he is a horrible minus player.

He also has been above water playing with Carlo except for the Carolina series when he had a bum shoulder and that pairing got taken to town. Which maybe you can argue is size related. But big guys get hurt too, so I dunno. Honestly seemed like Carlo not being quick enough to avoid the forecheck was a bigger issue in that series then Gryz getting outmuscled.

So is Gryz the problem here? Or the fact that injury situations put him out there with guys who should have been in the press box? I mean Carlo has an even worse GF% over the last three playoffs? Should he be dumped too?

Nope, Frodo is the problem

Yuppers. At least one each on D and Forward.
Curious...who comes out bruins forward and D? Who comes in that make the bruins more competitive than they have already have proven this season?

For me it's about playing for the team, team chemistry, heart, passion, and mental toughness. 2011 Boston Bruins!

Plus luck and injury free.

On D I replace Shattenkirk or Forbort with Jake Middleton or Zadarov, at forward I would like Luke Kunin, he can replace Heinen or Steen. If DeBrusk doesn't start producing he can sit some for Kunin who is out scoring him.

ON D - Remove Shattenkirk from equation because if everyone is healthy he's most likely sitting therefore Forbort goes and you lose one of the best PK players in the league. Bad.

ON F - Kunin I'm okay with for either Steen or Heinen but I don't think Kunin makes the team drastically better. Steen is tough to play against on that 4th line and can move up if need be. Heinen is more versatile.

Are we getting these guys for free?

Ha...I didn't bring that up. At this point there isn't anyone from the bruins I would trade for Kunin, Middleton, or Zadorov.
You can't mess with team chemistry/success. This team is playing for one another, with passion, and heart.

This team has a solid chance to go deep. Need to stay healthy. Unfortunately that was there undoing last year.

Was looking at some numbers for something else and got curious about what Poitras' numbers look like with and without Jake.

In 80 min at 5v5 with Jake: 54% CF%, 67% xGF%, 4 GF, 0GA

In 123 min at 5v5 without Jake: 48% CF%, 45% xGF%, 4GF, 5GA

Jake proving him great defensive numbers from last season weren't just a side effect of playing with Bergy, he's been doing a great job at making Poitras' life easier. Should keep those two together long term.

Things you love to see. Others heads might explode at this information as we were told constantly Jake is only a product of who his center is. Glad to see it.

Well, the team as a whole had to step up their defensive game, to make up for the loss of the two great centers.
Jake has taken that role seriously, so I am sure in due time, the offense will come.
The team is winning without his offense, he will come through when the team needs it the most.
