If it's just a paper transaction why not send him down with Steen and Mitchell though? Surely if there's any benefit to sending him down and then recalling him tomorrow, they'd get that x2 if they had sent him down yesterday. This cap stuff makes my brain hurt to think about.
The cap has been a drain on hockey for me--an unpleasant distraction.

I'm back and forth on that, not so much the need for a top 6 player but which position ( center/wing ). I feel like Zacha, Coyle, and Poitras are handling things just fine but a move for Hertl would make the Bruins top line really dynamic with him at center and Zacha moving back to the wing. Just not sure how the Bruins make it happen.
One of the good things about Hertl is that he can play center or LW and bring a skilled net front presence to the line.

Zacha-Hertl-Pasta or Hertl-Zacha-Pasta.

For sure. I agree, I think he's a very good skating d-man and does make the smart play more often than not, but watching him play from October-April is COMPLETELY different than watching him play from April on. I just feel like when the game gets more high energy and teams are more in his face that he kind of falters.

This is an Athletic article that you'd probably enjoy.

TLDR: slight, skill guys tend to perform badly in the playoffs, due to decreased time/space. Also, the Bruins 2011 team was skilled - rather than heavy - and that Cup came during an era of skill teams. But the pendulum has swung the other way, and heavy teams are now prevailing. Bonus analytics feature: the author makes up their own "Heavy" metric.

Why? When paired with Coyle they analytically dominate

Grzelcyk as well is a breakout machine

You need to get out of the 70’s and 80’s hockey that ship has failed

There bottom 6 is plenty big, tough, or abrasive enough in todays game

Looking around a few weeks ago I easily put them top 10 probably top 3 but don’t want to upset the Bruins haters that make up a large portion of this board
Then come the PO'S

12-1-2 is not false garbage. Its reality.

Not everyone thinks it was condesending. Though I'd say the majority of posters here frequently use condescension in their posts. Like perhaps: "It is that simple, but people twist it into something else to support their strange, obsessive narrative".
We did this last year too. We hyped the shit out of everything and then we went home with our fingers in our asses.

That's awful.

Some of the things my friend who works for a junior team tells me about the kids these days (God I sound old), really makes me think the competitive nature of many younger people is not as intense as it used to be.

Let me tell you, depending on where you look, it’s as competitive as ever. All depends on where and who you ask

he's been bad every playoff though (i'd accept an "OK" for 18-19) most of the guys with comparable tenure have at least a couple decent playoffs in the same time

Frederic and Ullmark are right there with gryz in terms of consistently terrible in the playoffs, but I see your point. Just saying in general the team has been awful in the playoffs

Frederic has played 9 playoff games. Ullmark 8. Over two seasons.

Grzelcyk has played 62 games over 6 seasons.

See the difference?

OK, enough bull****, with Lucic possibly gone from the team they need to go get at least one forward that fights and hits and one physical D.

Essentially they replaced Lucic with Heinen to get more physical. Enough, Sweeney go get somebody, I don't care if it is Mathieu Oliver from Columbus at this point.
