Edström isn't aggressive at all though. He uses his body to separate himself from others, but he's by no means an overly physical player.
I've seen him make some big hits. I know he was suspended at least once for a hit in the SHL.

He's not the guy that's going out there hitting everything that moves, but he has the ability to punish people when the opportunity presents itself.

European players drafted outside the 1st round are not eligible to be sent to the minors unless they are 22 years old, free agents or have completed their first ELC year.

That's why Adam Sýkora wasn't eligible in 2022-23 for instance.
So Sykora was signed to ELC right away after being drafted that allowed him to join Hartford at D+2?

Yeah, but those suspensions were because in the SHL they are much stricter. Any contact with the head is an immediate suspension, regardless of disciplinary history.

Those hits won't result in anything in the NHL. By NHL standards he isn't aggressive, he is however (as you stated) a guy that punishes people if they are putting themselves in those situations.

Jarin Chmelař, who was mentioned here as well, is more physical than Edström and really needs to pick his battles otherwise he could definitely be on the path to suspensions once he makes it to the NHL.

So Sykora was signed to ELC right away after being drafted that allowed him to join Hartford at D+2?

That is exactly it, yeah. This applied to Karl Henriksson as well. The NHL transfer agreement applies to most European leagues except the KHL. Prior to (I think) 2019, the Swiss leagues were also exempt from this but they joined with the most recent extension of the agreement. I can share a copy of the document with you if you'd like.

I think Drury has done a good job but our lack of top end picks seems to show up. Im optimistic about a few guys but overall looking at our group Im wondering where we rank.
What do mean? From a prior page the Rangers just got ranked 19th by the Athletic’s Scott Wheeler

Thanks for the ranking. 19th isnt really good or bad. That seems to fit. I think Drury has done a good job drafting but we traded multiple picks over the years.

There’s no a concept of above or below expectated in hockey’s prospects rankings but based on the Rangers (lack of) “strength” of draft positions in the last few years I do agree that Drury’s done pretty well.

With all of our graduations and lack of draft picks, I think our prospect pool is pretty healthy. There's not a ton of top-end talent, but we have a very good stable of projectable bottom-6ers. And all it takes is one or two of them surprising (looking at you, Berard and BMB) and becoming top-6ers to replenish our ranks as our current core ages out. We're about 15 prospects deep with players that have a decent shot to play some kind of role in the NHL. That's very good, considering our dearth of picks, especially high picks, lately.

I think we do in terms of the body "count" (sorry for the dark humor) but digging deeper (again lol) the pool is very homogeneous / lacks diversity in many way.

We have holes, for sure. Our RD and C depth is poor. Yes, we have a ton of wings. But wingers make up close to half your roster. So I don't think it's quite as dire as some make out.

Roobroeck vs Roobroeck

Dylan playing against his little brother Ryan. Assist for Dylan, goal for Ryan. 3-3 in OT.

Soo up 8-2 late in the 3rd, but somehow Barker has no points.

Lamb had an assist in a 6-1 loss.

Ryan doesn’t seem to have the size or grit his brother has, but seems to have offensive skill. I wonder where he will go in the draft.

I believe Ryan's a late 2007 birthday which would make him 16 years old and too young for the next draft. If I remember he's like the 2nd guy taken in the last OHL draft meaning he might be a first rounder in 2025.

just looked him up on EP. Born a little past the cut off date for 2025. He isn't draft eligible until 2026.

2020 draft has been lowkey pretty good

-Lafreniere
-Schneider
-Cuylle
-Garand
-Berard
-Rempe

3 of them are NHL regulars, one definitely will be in Berard, Garand will probably be in the NHL but with another team, and Rempe is still a wildcard to me but the fact that he's getting a single NHL game with his profile is nothing short of shocking. He wasn't even ranked by most publications at draft day.

2022 has been quality over quantity as well

-Sykora is a gem and will very likely be an effective NHLer
-Don't know much about BMB but seems he's almost a lock to be at least an effective bottom 6er
-Laba has had a shockingly good development curve and will probably be pro sooner than later
-Mancini won defensive D of the year (twice?)
