Fortescue is interesting. As a freshman he's probably the 2nd best D on that team (though if BC has a weakness, its there.) Plays a good amount and is in the PK rotation.

Gabe blowing by the Uconn dman in overtime just missing on the partial breakaway.
Got crushed into the boards after the play. Seems ok

Could have been a penalty.

Strength is a bigger hinderance for him than speed honestly.

Surpsied it wasn't a penalty.
I don't mind that. That strength will come. From what I have seen his speed does not seem to be an issue which is great.

Being #2 to Celebrini among freshmen (and I'm still baffled at a HS senior aged player doing what he's doing) and top 10 nationally after going 23rd overall just screams really dumb shit happening before the Rangers picked.

Hopefully the Rangers don't undo the stupidity of the teams in front of them by trying to get him to sign this year. Let him cook at BC for 2024-25 and reassess after that.

That’s the proper outlook at this point. But who knows where he’s in summer 2024. Not advocating for it but it’s possible he’s ready to move up to the AHL and continue his development there. Looks like Hartford now is not your older brother’s Wolfpack.

I haven't watched him this year but Barbashev has a line of 2-7-9 in 15 games this season, in the Q no less. I've never been particularly high on him, but that's a super disappointing output. Leo Braillard, the guy Shawinigan moved out to make a spot for Barbashev, had 4 points in 7 games for them and has gone on to score 16 points in 11 games for his new Lethbridge team in the WHL. Yikes.

I'm glad Braillard found a new team and is doing well.

Still lots of time for Barbashev to turn it around.

FYI - UDFA F was in NYR Rookie Camp, had a goal vs Flyers in rookie game

It looks like we are going to be very thin this year in terms of players in the WJC.

Perreault should make the team. Fortescue might, hard to say. Sykora will if the Rangers release him, but I doubt they release him.

More than likely, Perreault will be the only one.

Hoping he has a WJC like Stepan did. That WJC was one for the ages since then I've kind of been blah about them.
