One of the players I think mny of us here were hesitant to give up was when Aleksei Saarella was traded for Eric Staal. Granted the Staal rental didn't work out for us, but Saarela is making his way back in the Swiss-A league for the last 3 years after getting a brief shot with the Panthers.

Vitali Kravstov is back in RUssia and has 7 goals and 16 points in 18 games...looks like a decent prospect, just saying.

His lack of pace doesn't hold him back there.

If he ever gets another NHL look he'll flame out again. The drive, IQ and motor just aren't there.

Jayden Grubbe was dealt to Edmonton for a pick where he is currently playing for the AHL Bakersfield Condors.
In 9 games with the Condors he has 1 goal and 1 assist.

Yeah, Kravtsov always looked good in the KHL. And his time here, even if he was a slacker, undoubtedly helped him develop further. Hard for me to see him ever making it in the NHL, though, unless he has some sort of major epiphany. Even then I don't think he's dynamic enough to be a real impact player.

I still wonder if he wanted to play in Canada or the Rangers thinking he has not enough upside to sign and take a chance on. He seems to have Goodrow type upside 3rd 4th liner that good on faceoffs PK and fight when needed.

At the time there was one thought that was floated here.
Drury was holding off offering him a contract to see how other prospects were developing.
Grubbe was put off and had his agent tell the Rangers he would not sign and intended to re-enter the draft.
Not sure if he was one of the prospects that @Amazing Kreiderman was communicating with.
He might be more helpful to answer this question.

That's correct. Grubbe's camp was talking to other teams in anticipation of him re-entering the draft. Grubbe spoke to several organisations and gave the Rangers his preferred options which led to the trade for the 5th round pick we used on Rasmus Larsson this past summer.

The timing was just never right with Grubbe and the Rangers.

Crazy that Gross is only 23 years old. Seems like just last year that he helped found and establish the WJC tournament to how we know it today.

Does he have Ryan Lindgren upside but not as overly physical but very good defensively?
He's playing quality minutes as a freshman and I've yet to see him stand out in a negative way. How that will translate to the NHL, I have no idea.

Perreault set up Smith for a grade A chance that he couldn't bury.
That was a good job by Gabe on the boards.

Way too early for me to compare him to Lindgren but Ryan is a pretty unique player in a few ways 1) that much snarl from a defenseman his size 2) his ability to play through all kinds of pain and injury (almost reminds of Girardi) 3) the chemistry he has with Fox which goes back well before turning pro to back to back WJC tournaments. I wouldn't say Fortescue has any of those qualities we know Lindgren has.
