I put the game on late and have only seen him take one shift where he got robbed.

Fortescue looks pretty good though. With that size and skating I see why they took him even if he wasn't my guy at that spot.
Yeah. This is looking like a very nice pick. So far.

I noticed that Laba didn't play yesterday. He was suspended due to an incident in the exhibition game last week.

After a play in SFU’s defensive zone, multiple scrums, including one between Laba and SFU forward Ben Ward, began near the right side of the net. As officials rushed to break up the shoving matches, Laba, still heated from the moment, seemed to forcibly contact the referee pulling him away. This contact resulted in a five-minute major penalty, an immediate game disqualification and a potential suspension.

Despite Saturday’s contest being an exhibition game –none of the statistics count for any player – the usual one-game suspension for such an infraction remained in place for Laba. As a result of the penalty, Laba will sit out the regular season opener against Union College on Friday night, a significant loss for the offensive unit, according to Mayotte speaking on his weekly KRDO radio show Tuesday night.

Brody Lamb had 1+1, so he has 3+1 in 2 games to start.
Which is amazing since he was 4+4 in 39 games last year. He has nearly matched his goal total and gotten half the points in just 2 games.

The goal was an empty netter and the assist came on a goal where Snuggerud did 99% of the work, but I'll take it.

Nothing last night for Barbashev, Barker or Roobroeck.

Yeah the fact that he gets to play with Oliver Moore and Snuggerud is great. Minnesota has other wings who have been more productive that they could put there but they're playing Brody. He gets PP time as well. Motzko said nice things about him last year and seems to really like him. Hopefully playing with two high-end former first round picks will help him develop his offense.

I'm still shocked that LIU was the first college on LI to get a D1 program. Stony Brook came so close so many times but the arena thing was always an issue.

Local boy from Smithtown, Grad student who played for Alaska Fairbanks.

Where is LIU playing? Is CWPost considered as LIU?

you know a guy has some grit when he's getting sussied in exhibition games. gonna guess this was the most needledk overreaction from one of the refs to an accident but i'm pretty certain the video would be hilarious no matter the how it played out.

Barbashev had 2 assists in his only game so far.

Finally. Now he can get back to playing hockey. Poor kid that he had to deal with this stuff because of silly rules in the league. There should be exceptions to some rules that are clearly hurting a kids chance to develop into a NHLer one day.
Totally. Developmental league like this needs to prioritize developing kids. Appreciate the intention to prioritize local kids, sure. But there has to be a better way. At least improve the appeal process.

I think it was moreso the likelihood of Braillard being claimed that made him the better option to waive. Teams who claim a player have a financial obligation, which is less of a problem is the player claimed can contribute right away (Which Braillard can).

I am still trying to wrap my head around this because this is new territory even for me, as I cannot remember the last time we had a prospect in this situation. Richard Nejezchleb comes close but at the time I wasn't this engaged in the business side of the game, especially the administrative rules and by-laws of major junior hockey
Thanks for digging into this, AK!

Barbashev with 1 assist in a 6-2 win.

Tarnstrom wasn't in the lineup last night.

BMB had an assist in a game they played at 11 a.m. this morning. Slow start for him with 2-5-7 in 9 games. He had a slow start last year, too.
