Yeah, I figured this would be the case.Barbasev returned to Shawinigan, the default next step to wherever he ends up playing
No one's been harder on Hartford than I have but the team did make the playoffs last year and had an impressive playoff losing to the eventual Stanley Cup champion. Two players from that roster, Cuylle and Jones are now on the Rangers. The team has several prospects this that could be NHL players and a couple of vets that can fill in if there are injuries on the Rangers. If anything, this is the year the Rangers may finally have figured out Hartford. So you've rather have a shitty team in Hartford that never makes the playoffs, just so we can sign guys that have virtually no chance of ever being NHL players. Solid strategy.
I'm not arguing that point, just that other poster's continued insistence that we should favor every marginal prospect over competent AHL vets who can both help Hartford win and provide depth for the Rangers. No one's been harder on Hartford than I have but the team did make the playoffs last year and had an impressive playoff losing to the eventual Stanley Cup champion. ... Since 2010, a total of 28 Import players transferred from the QMJHL to the OHL, and 12 from the QMJHL to the WHL.
... Looking at Shawinigan's roster, I see 14 forwards and Barbashev isn't one of them, but only 1 player on the team (Lou-Félix Denis) is an overager.
However, they already have the max imports:
Leo Braillard from Switzerland Jiri Klima from Czechia
Since reading AK's post 4 weeks back(above),A team can petition the CHL that due to a player's residency status he should not count as an import. Maybe it's possible Shawinigan did that? It's rare, so I feel like we would have heard about it by now.
I believe the next LHJMQ trade window is in mid-December. Who knows what will happen with Barbashev.
So that's how you pronounce Chmelar.

Thanks for posting. Terrific goal by Chmelar. Here is the first goal where Chemlar has the primary assist. Watch how in a tight space he is able to corral a bouncing puck and pass it to an open wing.
I'm posting this as it's seemingly the first time someone other than attentive Rangers fans from HF noted that Barbashev can't just "go back" to Shawinigan without something else happening.

I've always thought of him as that new cat in Shalimar. So much for thatSo that's how you pronounce Chmelar.
This is his 2nd goal from that game:In the exhibition college games last night, Noah Laba scored twice. No box score for the game.
I saw a couple people mentioned that on random QMJHL-related message board on the internet. However, it was just as you said, "20-year-olds can be traded after the deadline." Well, what does "after the deadline" mean? There are several deadlines. The scout in your Twitter thread indicates it basically means "can be traded any time," which is definitely not the same as "after the deadline" in my view. I also saw one person say, "You will never find a comprehensive guide explaining the QMJHL trade deadlines and how trades work" which made me laugh.Cataractes scout Benoit Belanger responded on Twitter and clarified that 20-year olds can be traded after the deadline.

I tweeted the question to Vince, but haven't seen a response yet.
that tweet wasn't readable today, but thanks for that new piece of infoCataractes scout Benoit Belanger responded on Twitter and clarified that 20-year olds can be traded after the deadline.

Anyway, seems like the most likely resolution then is a trade within the Q.
Any chance someone can list the prospects schedule and the times they are on for their teams in juniors and college? Did we used to have a prospect schedule thread?
this is what i referred toSteven has done it, on Twitter, often in past, but I believe he is still traveling
