Finally. Now he can get back to playing hockey. Poor kid that he had to deal with this stuff because of silly rules in the league. There should be exceptions to some rules that are clearly hurting a kids chance to develop into a NHLer one day.

Still trying to figure out what is going on here. Maybe Barbashev counts as a frozen list player, giving the team 2 weeks to sort out a trade.

And we finally have an clarity!

@nyr2k2

Léo Braillard was put on waivers to free up an import spot for Barbashev.

I'm surprised it was Braillard. He at least contributes. Klima has done nothing, and he's only 1 year younger than Braillard.

If Braillard doesn't get claimed, they send him to Junior A? That really sucks for him.

Vaisanen had a goal. Back to back games with a goal for him. He's at 4-1-5 in 12 games. I know it's not super impressive in a vacuum but he's still only 19 and he's also only getting 12 minutes each game.

For comparison's sake, he had an identical 4-1-5 line in 47 games last season, so that's some real progress.

I think his upside if he pans out is Viktor Stalberg. I see similarities in their games

I think it was moreso the likelihood of Braillard being claimed that made him the better option to waive. Teams who claim a player have a financial obligation, which is less of a problem is the player claimed can contribute right away (Which Braillard can).

I am still trying to wrap my head around this because this is new territory even for me, as I cannot remember the last time we had a prospect in this situation. Richard Nejezchleb comes close but at the time I wasn't this engaged in the business side of the game, especially the administrative rules and by-laws of major junior hockey :laugh:

If anyone was wondering about Stonehill College, who Providence played, they're an independent who moved up to D1 last season.

I'm still shocked that LIU was the first college on LI to get a D1 program. Stony Brook came so close so many times but the arena thing was always an issue.

I dunno who the hell LIUs goalie is but he’s kept them from being down 10-2

Local boy from Smithtown, Grad student who played for Alaska Fairbanks.

Brandon Perrone was a youth teammate of Providence Goalie Brandon Bussi for a few years. They all are 98's that my son played travel hockey with and against. He is 25 years old and will turn 26 during the season. Its crazy how old some of these college players are! between starting a few years late and then getting a COVID year
