You don’t have to have a chronic injury to be injury prone. His healthiest season at any level is missing 10 games in the WHL. His healthiest pro season is missing 12. Why are you shaming fans for being concerned at his injury patterns?

It should be noted that 2019-2020 was the COVID year when most teams maxed out around 70 GP.

64 GP plus 3GP in Rockford is thus his healthiest post-draft season despite the concussion suffered in pre-season.

I don’t mind being correct. There is nothing to repent.

The Habs are poorly run and make bad decisions, there is no difference to me between Bergevin or the new foxhole crew. Many of you have convinced yourself the emperor has new clothes.

Dach was a relatively cheap acquisition because of his injury issues, so it was correct to be cautious against overhyping the situation.

Hope he heals and comes back better than ever.

I honestly feel your constant taunting about Frank Nazar is what did it. Unnecessary and mean spirited.
Oh my god

Plenty of people would get hurt if they had a 6'6 guy push them into the boards awkwardly, and ride them along those boards while pushing their upper body backwards.

If you don't believe me, we can always arrange a reenactment.
U can play Dachs role

We're hitting record speeds, we've hit the board-wide meta-argument about What Ails The Canadiens And Their No-Good Foolish Management And Fanbase stage in like 7 different threads before any official injury announcement.

I think by next year we'll be able to hit this mark during the anthems of game 1 of preseason honestly, it's an exciting upward trajectory from us :sarcasm:

Dach wasn't"on the cusp of breaking out" when we traded for him. He looked destined for bustville.

While he showed promise last year he still hadn't "broken out".

Beyond that though, Dach had an extensive injury history when we picked him up, and that's only continued.

While it sucks that he's injured, some people are just made of glass.

I don't think we'll be able to ever count on him playing full seasons, and any time he does we should just consider it a bonus.

He was on the cusp of breaking out this year

All good, man. You asked clarifying questions and did it respectfully. I'm always here for that type of discussion.
The trade was worth whatever risk there was. Romanov was replaceable and likely nothing special at the 13th pick. At this point though I would plan the team assuming Dach won't ever play a full season.

i really dont understand the draft pics in this organisation. Slaf instead of cooley/nemec. Reinbacher instead of michkov/leonard when next years draft is like 6 d men in the top 10..
Very good insight
Doesn't make sense at times
Still not sure why the woodie for Rein

There is bad injury luck and there is being cursed* so bad it starts to affect the careers of players. Kirby Dach suffering a double cruciate ligament tear is very much in the curse category.

What rotten luck for the young man. I hope he stays resilient.

*Habs fans placed this curse when they cheered and sneered at the perceived misfortunes of unrelated players like Frank Nazar, Shane Wright, and Matvei Michkov.

Use this opportunity to put good vibes in the world and stop cheering for others’ misfortune even if you think you’re getting one over on ol ReHabs here.

Double tear would possibly be his career with how speed-based the NHL is now. I guess surgeries are probably better than even 10 years ago though. The numbers for returning to play for athletes back in 2009 was roughly 64%. I would guess that a lot of the ones who didn't were basketball or American football players though as they don't really have reduced roles available and are much more cutthroat businesses. Many MCL tears usually aren't serious and heal on their own in six weeks tops but it's more difficult to deal with when there is also an ACL injury involved.

It depends on the severity of the tears as well. A double tear is what sent Joe Thornton off the cliff in 2017, but he played on the leg for 4 playoff games which likely made it worse. That being said he was already old and declining, adding snail-level slow to that amplified it. Dach is young and likely has a higher chance of recovery. We can't get too worked up until we know the severity of the tears and if surgery is necessary.
