Thelin in net for Sweden.Finland v Sweden is on ESPN+
Great play by Kipkie. Pretty sad back check by the forward though.
I don’t think it was even 2mins. They’re older than 14 years. So it seems ok to me.Btw, Geekie gets 5min major checking to the head game misconduct in the first 11 seconds of the game.
So he's out of this one and will miss the next game as well.
**now granted, if there was ever a clean check to the head...this was it. In North America, it wouldn't have been a penalty (10% chance - because Geekie is 6'5'' and killed the kid)
exactly and unfortunate that he will miss the first playoff game.I don’t think it was even 2mins. They’re older than 14 years. So it seems ok to me.
Hockey in general is getting away from the good ole days solid contact. Google Stevens of the Devils and watch what real hockey contact use to be like.So soft. That’s what happens when they have these tournaments in Europe. Either it’s rigged for Canada in Canada or it’s softer than baby poo with 20 minute long reviews of every bump or nudge. Can they ever just put this thing in Michigan or Colorado?
I don’t have to Google Scott Stevens. I’m 38 years old. I remember. Haha.Hockey in general is getting away from the good ole days solid contact. Google Stevens of the Devils and watch what real hockey contact use to be like.
He jumped a bit into the German Player.
Looks like a classic clean body check to me. NCAA D1 football players are the same age. Hockey is a contact sportThose are Kids.
Do you know what a single concussion does to q developing brain?
Also the slomo (not in this Video) shows that He jumped a bit into the German Player. Not a good hit.
It’s just follow through. Happens on every big hit.The only way Geekie avoids the head is
Don't think so. You use your legs for power. Same as when blocking in American football. At the moment of impact, his skates are on the ice, but as you drive through the hit your feet will leave the surface as your legs uncoil.
Its fine to Check, but do it right.
It’s a soft penalty. That was just a hockey play. The refs decided. And i my eyes they decided right.
Look at the replay and the slo mo.
And yes @rt Hockey is a contact Sport. But a concussion during brain development is the most dangerous thing that can happen. And it doesn't matter what the NCAA says or any Other league in the world. The scientific fact is that during this period even a slight concussion can lead to negative long-term effects.
And thats why you should be extra cautious. Its fine to Check, but do it right.
All this talk about "Players getting soft" is so outdated. Yes we all like the hitting, but we all know the effects of concussions on Players from the past. And present.
Its Not soft, trying to find a middle ground of both Sides. Especially for teenagers.

Because its totally fair stateside right? So soft. That’s what happens when they have these tournaments in Europe. Either it’s rigged for Canada in Canada or it’s softer than baby poo with 20 minute long reviews of every bump or nudge. Can they ever just put this thing in Michigan or Colorado?
In the last 25 years it’s been in the US three times and in Canada 12 times.Because it’s totally fair stateside right?
