Same. My company did the ultimate Scrooge and cancelled our vacation for the sales org. So I’m expected to “work” as punishment for the sales team not hitting quota. I’ll be watching WJC all day every day.
Who the hell are you guys going to be taking to? Isn't everyone one winter break?

You and me both...he's just 3 years removed from coaching youth hockey...so there you go
But was he good at coaching you hockey? :sarcasm:

I didn't and still don't really know much about him even though I have listened to all the interviews on PHNX. All I had known was from things I read here when he got hired and it didn't sound good. But I was also thinking BA would not be happy with someone shitty coaching his guys with how much emphasis put on scouting and development.

MavLam was great. Geekie was solid. Samu Bau was an undercover surprise for me. Played like a Finnish Jack McBain. So tall and strong. Really good defensively and played a tough, engaged, heavy game.

Tried to clip a beautiful play by Bau but Sling won’t let me use screen recording. He turned a German defender inside out high in the zone, took it deep and made a terrific saucer pass to Emil Hemming charging the net, but Hemming reached in and missed it by half a stride.

Bau was impressive today...and coach didn't reward him late with extra touches, they kept giving ice time to the top 2 lines which weren't good.

Helenius is a good player...certainly a first rounder, it was basically him and Bau today as the only players that played well for the Finns

Bau awarded player of the game for Finland vs Germany. Goalie received the player of the game for Germany.

Helenius reminds me so much of Keller. The good and the bad. But the new Keller who will skate in traffic. Not the old soft Keller from his early NHL days.

Lutz was a hound today. Very annoying player for the Finns. He was all over the puck and has some real skill. I was impressed.

Yes, Helenius is Keller who goes to the net...and Lutz is a very nice puck hound. I just wish Lutz had more of a scoring touch...but certainly what coaches would say is a 'gamer'. He's gonna get in there and fight the entire time, which is great to see.

Pulkkinen, on the other hand, did not have a good game. The lows were lower and so were the highs. More mistakes that were costlier that he did less to mitigate. Was flat footed too often and puck watching too much. I will say, that disastrous go ahead goal for Germany late in the 2nd where Pulkkinen “fell”, I’m not going to fault him for. His skate got clips by the forward.

I’d be more forgiving of his inconsistency from game one to game two, especially given it’s back to back and the whole team seems in a funk, except he’s not a first time draft eligible player. He’s like Geekie and Lamoureux and I expect more from him.

Yeah, not a fan of Pulkkinen...to me he is smooth slow, not slow as in skating speed, but slow twitch type guy and to me he's the type of kid who will struggle against very fast agile skaters...which is basically all the above average tier players in the NHL

I’ve seen him look that way. Like today. But I’ve also see him absolutely gobble up time and space super quick with big long strides. I think he’s got consistency issues with his feet. Which would be one thing if he was a year younger. It’s a bigger problem at his age. There are highlight packages out there that showcase what he’s capable of with his skating. Highlights don’t show consistency issues.
