I didn’t realize Russia is still excluded. Between that and the Hockey Canada coverup, this is a hard tournament to get excited about.

What's the deal with that Hockey Canada story? They said the names would be released months ago. GMs know. Journalists know (I guess that makes them shitty journalists). It's just the fans that are left in the dark.

Yeah it sucks.

Is it possible conclusion of the Hockey Canada investigation is that they don’t find the victim credible any longer? I’m asking as a person who knows nothing about this and is just trying to think of reasons why it might’ve just suddenly disappeared.

This is a good summary of the latest in the Hockey Canada mess. The fact that the appeal has no timeline seems to me they’re just hoping this story will be forgotten.

It’s been so long that I’ve honestly forgotten whether we know they’re actually guilty or not. I remember some of the details of the allegations and it was gross stuff. Not good. But I don’t recall if they’re proven guilty of it.

Comtois and Formenton were both alleged perpetuators and both vanished.

if Russia is there do we break double digits on prospects playing in this world juniors? Cooley is eligible still as well.

This sounds like the war in Ukraine - biggest war on Earth since WWII - ended 10 years ago and those putin-lovers still not present.

What really sucks is that those missiles and drones fly not around your house.

Unrelated. Horrifying and disgusting and appalling. But entirely unrelated.

I complain about a stubbed toe, about burnt toast, about a parking ticket, and a bad business meeting at work. I do this despite the fact that children and toiling and suffering and dying in Chinese owned Congolese lithium mines.

Child slavery is evil. Hospital bombings are evil. The war in Ukraine is evil.

Sporting events are frivolity. Hockey is just a distraction for the privileged. It doesn’t really mean anything. It certainly pales in comparison to real world human suffering. It also has nothing at all to do with it. Neither do the Russian junior hockey athletes have anything at all to do with the war in Ukraine.

I always think about the 200+ ukranian athletes that died during this war.
Of course i can differenciate between players that are part of the russian army or an active part of the propaganda and athletes like Andrey Rublev, Zadorov, Daniil Medvedev, Fyodor Smolov and others that condem the war. Of course they are privileged because they play outside the country and make good money, but still i really appreciate them standing up against their home country. I know thats hard.

And its hard to find the right solution. Especially considering how sports is used as propaganda in russia (and other countries) and that they were already sanctioned during the last two olmypics for doping.

Uh oh little boys in pants has nothing to do with the war. Uh oh.
Naive, very naive.
Because:
Especially considering how sports is used as propaganda in russia
Yes, this war is a ressentiment for f***ing russians, and their propaganda heavily relies on sports, especially hockey.

ovechkin invested himself into putin. and recent Zadorov interview shed some light to that meeting where "some were against, but some were pro war". I can told you that most of them were pro war, maybe Panarin who have historical issues with regime, Zadorov because he cares only to have his visa up to date and maybe Artem Duda who just leave that weird cirkus are against it. Others support. The whole "country" on the same page with their Leader.

And to give them the opportunity to represent their country and ideas? Really?

Senator McCain was really from Arizona state?

I hope this war and all wars end soon. And I hope you can enjoy peace and all of us can join you in peace. Merry Christmas.

I might have to give Potvin some kudos...the team is playing really well right now and to think that the reason for it is all due to the youngsters: Guenther/Doan/Raty/Szuber/Soderstrom...basically leading the team in everything. Now, they're getting good goaltending from Villalta, but still impressive without AHL veterans to be in 2nd place at the break in the Pacific.

Yeah, I was afraid Potvin wasn’t the right guy. He seems to be doing well. I’m relieved!
