Prospect Info: 2023 1st Rd Selection - #28 OA (via BOS, WSH) - C, Easton Cowan [London Knights, OHL; [Height 5.11 -- Weight 185]

One thing that made me not hate the pick(and no, I didn't watch him play) is that he had a monster playoffs for an undrafted player.

I feel like that is really rare in the OHL.

He continously improved his game and his impact on it thru the course of the season. By the 3/4 mark his line was the 1A line.
And all 3 leas the teams offense come playoffs. Kid is a gamer and wrte lucky to see the progression here in London. He will be a fan fav in TO in a couple years. Kid wants it n will work to get it.

Love it, kid can play. Should do wonders for his confidence, and hopefully a huge year for London.

He passes the eye test for sure. Will be fun watching him play for the Knights this year.

Hitting on these winger picks is huge. I feel like there was a revolving door outside of Mitch and Nylander on the right side.

If Roberson can do something we got solid winger depth. Knies is almost guaranteed to be good.

Cowan is bringing something I've missed, which is straight line speed, but not in a dumb way like Kapanen.

I don't want to bum people out but Knies is coming in and this would be Amirovs year too.

He was fantastic. Probably the best player for us tonight.
He definitely deserves another game or 2 in the preseason. If he repeats this performance he should play again after that.

Nice goal and passes last night. Looked comfortable against some NHL players. Didn’t shy away from driving the net. Maybe an underrated skater for sure, that time in overtime when his zone entry was picked off by the Sens player, he was back fast to thwart a scoring chance.

I'm sure they spoke to him after that, his confidence may have went to his head there. Worse moment of the game for him, glad it didn't directly cost the loss.

Probably should talk to the vets who were on the ice for the game winner.

Cowan:
But sometimes players do surprise.

Can't see him starting the season with the Leafs but if this continues I can't see him starting the season with the Knights.

You lost me there.

Where else could he play if not with the Knights?

IMO, it's naive to think how he looked in a 1/2 speed pre-season game would carry over to the season.
Let him go back, play WJHC and win a Mem Cup. Think everyone will be better off in the long run.

I think he will go back to the London Knights, I could see getting a couple of regular season games if he keeps this up.
It will give him an opportunity to see what he needs to work on for next season.
Has he gets stronger he is going to be a beast .
With his speed and offense you are looking at a top 6 player , pk , pp .
Treliving knows that the hunters will turn him into the player he wants.

WJC is his goal this season.

Glad to see people fallin in love with the kid. Leading up to the draft I never heard anything bad about him, and some people would mentioned he was their favourite player in the draft and could be a big sleeper. Hes a "hockey player", not much to complain about with him.

Amen to that. Looks like a great pick.

It’s crazy to see Marner as the “old vet” taking a kid like this under his wing a bit lol … like Marner is the cool dude that Cowan looks up to. Crazy that we got to watch both guys in London

The kid stood out in rookie camp, he’s now standing out in pre-season… If he continues to impress, I don’t see why he wouldn’t get a longer look and potential dig into those first 8 NHL games before we make a decision.

Another thing I just remembered, this kid is impressing while playing center! If he can stick to that, HUGE pick.

He is impressing every time he steps on the ice. Future top 6 Leaf.
