Prospect Info: 2023 1st Rd Selection - #28 OA (via BOS, WSH) - C, Easton Cowan [London Knights, OHL; [Height 5.11 -- Weight 185]

Meh, just a project. With his size his odds are less than 20% that he carves out an NHL career, let alone becomes a star. Let's wait and watch, I wouldn't put him on the NHL quality yet.

Easton Cowan, 5-foot-10, 171 pounds, left shot
Drafted 28th overall in 2023

Cowan, like Minten, was excellent in Traverse City. He led the Leafs with two goals and four assists. Cowan played with sound detail. He was above the play defensively when the Leafs didn’t have control in the offensive zone, locked on to his man in his own zone and blocked some shots. He was around the play every shift. Cowan has added more explosiveness over the summer. He was a threat off the rush. When he got the edge on zone entries he wasn’t shy about taking pucks to the paint. I expect him to graduate to Leafs main camp and suit up for at least one exhibition game before returning to the London Knights (OHL).

He was already a standout in the rookie tournament playing with and against players older than him. Lots of London Knights fans love this kid. Colby Armstrong said that he stood out as the best player on the ice in the playoffs for London and was a beast.

He's 5'11. That isn't that small. There are tons of players in the NHL at 5'11.

No one is expecting him to make the Leafs this year or even next

Yep 5'11, 170lbs isn't even that small for a 18yo.

Like you said, tons of players in that range are doing well in the league and the game is also trending in that direction.

Here's just a few top scorers this past season in that range.

Pretty much every sport ends the season with a Final.
I know the OHL final is at the end of the season.

I thought he was responding to Racers comment with sarcasm, so I then replied to his with sarcasm. But he was literally actually saying he thought he was the best player in the OHL final.

Yes, I was serious, you noticed him every time he was on the ice. He was London's most dangerous player in my opinion during that series.

I mean he was just good against rookies, these flies get mauled over in NHL. Look at our own Mitch Marner at that size. Tiny smurfs are bound to have not much impact on overall game.

 All good, just messing around. :thumbu:

What are you on about? Marner is a perennial 90+ points player. There are tons of good players that are less than 6’ tall.

Ever watch Brad Marchand or Patrick Kane or Jack Hughes play?

Crosby aint even 6'.

Kucherov, Point etc the list goes on lol.

Cowan is the same height as these guys.

Man is just making a lazy argument.

This just sounds idiotic. Plenty of players his size are studs in this league. Your post is garbage.

He made an impact at rookie camp, he came out with a burr in his saddle, which speaks to character. He passed the first test.
