GDT: 2022 WJC Gold Medal Game FIN vs CAN 6pm MT, 8pm ET 2022-08-20

It's weird for me that some people watch hockey with this mentality. Especially Finnish person after what Finland has done in past few years.

After exhausting start, clear juggernaut number 1 gold favorite was worse team on the ice about 40 minutes tonight in my opinion and call me a cryer, but with equal refereeing, would have lost this game.
With equal reffing I wouldnt be pissed at all even finns wouldnt score a goal. Its the clown system which is hard to accept, and boys had to fight against it. If you can not see they made everything to prevent other than home team to win it I dont know what to say, you are sleeper and blind then.

And it is vice versa in europe, we all should know this allready.

Okay, you're a cryer.

Nah, I think Finland got about the right amount of penalties as they deserved. The ones they didn't deserve make up for the ones they did deserve (trip on McT, constant interference). Plus Canada's powerplay was really more of a negative to them in all honestly.

Good game though, hope they play it back in January.

In January the two best teams will return to the Gold Medal Game.

Canada and USA. A North American final, the way it should be! ;)

When did Finns become so toxic? Their heads get big after their wonderful gold in that loser Olympic tournament?
Our losers are better than your losers so technically you're bigger losers. In all honesty it goes both ways and if Finland would've won we'd see the worst of Canadians too, like we saw in two of these last "loser tournaments"

Leave that "two best teams" out next time if you want to make your trolling less obvious, just a tip.
You don't think the USA would have been in the final with Canada if not for a bad game against Chechia?

USA and Canada have the largest talent pool. Its inevitable that they will be in the finals more than nought. Not trolling, just the truth.

Wheeler says that these are the tournament awards. Nothing surprising.

Feels a bit strange. Puutio produced and all... But as our MVP i choose Jatkola without any hesitation.
Just don't think there was a D impressing us like Niemelä has been before and especially Heinola and of course others from other nations.
Andrae was pretty close with Puutio to be honest. But i' ll take it!

Overall a letdown of a tournament for D's like Niemelä and especially Jiricek.
Perhaps even Edvinsson a bit too.

The two best teams these last years are clearly Finland and Canada and there is no way around it. Quite simple.

Funny if you haven’t noticed that when you get a bad game in the playoffs, you don’t get to the finals. Doesn’t matter what the reason is, you suck in that one game, then you suck for the whole tournament in the end. The USA didn’t deserve anything better than what they got in the end.

Well maybe you shouldn't choke so you'd find out?

They've had the largest talent pool for the last 20 years atleast, so how many years more we have to wait until we see this to happen?

Still, couple comments even with these nominations: Puutio played fantastic in Finnish D but I don't see a great future. McTavish was a man amongst the kids. What I see is a guy that has peaked and now guys will start to come over from right and left. Ends up in third-liner, with no offence.

Just 5 months wait. That's all.

So you are saying that McTavish is peaked in high-school Rob Lowe?

It's quite funny that you believe that the US would be any kind of a powerhouse really. Don't even remember when you've ever been on the same level as Finland and Canada has been in both mens and youth hockey for these last years.

Whatever makes you happy i guess.

The US is actually the only major hockey playing country without a gold medal at the mens level in the 21st century. Last coming at the 1980 Olympics and the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.

That's one way to enjoy medals, you can always live in the future and in your head imagine how you're going to play in final. If it doesn't happen, you can always say that "just wait next year". This is something what these fantasy hfboards managers like to do regarding best on best tournaments too, they are winners until the tournament is actually played.

LOL

I always love the ref bias when it comes to Canada. They had by far the best team in the tournament. They had the most players highly ranked before the draft, highest draft picks and will have the highest amount of players having success in the NHL after the tournament.

Every call against Finland was 100% correct, not even a debatable one in the whole bunch but someone it was the refs that won the game. LOL it is so pathetic and unsurprising.

We keep kicking your asses internationally, keep producing the most and best players professionally and yet the BS excuses come up.

Great win, much deserved by the best team in the tournament by far.

f*** Cameron.
