It's gotta hurt if you're Finland, but Hirvonen and Niemela were being shown mad respect in the handshake line.
Why it should hurt?
We are already celebrated 2 golds this year.

And being honest i take Olympic gold before U20 WJC gold
because we are already won 5 golds in U20 WJC's but Beijing's men's hockey gold was our first one.
Congrats Canada for well deserved gold.

I'm trying to sleep but i can't, the image of McTavisch saving that goal already haunts me.

Here. Print and frame this in an 8x10 and set it on your nightstand beside your bed. It should help.

Theres always another day, some you win, some you lose, and these days it seems it's Canada and Finland having to console themselves or erupt with joy in most of the gold medal games.

It could be worse..........................we both could not be in those gold medal games, but we are, that's a win.

theres more then one countries program wishing they had our problems.

Hlinka Gold and now U-20 Gold this summer for Canada.

Still far and away the best hockey nation. This wasn’t easy and Canada made things more difficult on themselves than they should have, but there is no doubt they were the best team at this tournament.

My favorite part of this goal is Stankoven getting blatantly tackled as it happens

I know i had to laugh at that. The Fins were hooking/holding in the 3rd because they know the refs wouldn't call it anymore. The Canadians played very disciplined and the 1 penalty against was not a penalty.

Finland tried an epic comeback and nearly did it.

Major kudos to the Finnish team. Many teams would have just laid flat going in the 3rd period.

The win was basically an hairline finish with the Finnish just coming short of a goal.

Lots of Sisu.

2015, 2018, 2020, 2022, it isn't the 5 straight golds from 93-97 and again from 05-09 but that's still pretty impressive, Canada is overdue for a b2b.

2023 in Halifax/Moncton, its a must win.

Canadians honest question for you guys... Do you feel one bit shamed??? this is most brutal refereeing in history
The worse team won again this time. I dont feel bitter but the blatant feeling for Canada is just embarrasment.... 8 to 1 penalties from utter bullshit biased referee calls.... I just feel embarrased for Canada.
I dont think Finland should participate in this in january since the refereeing is always like this.

"I don't feel bitter" :D

Please STOP and leave that crying for Swedes.
If there was protest chance for that how referees did their job Finland would've done it for sure.

But guess what there's no protest chance for bad referees
and so long when that chance is not in the rulebook these games will end how they end and that's it.

Yes Canada maybe got some help for referees
but it was all pay back for that what happened to Tampere this past may.
It is totally childish and pathetic to blame referees for our lose in overtime
the game is over and Canada who scored 3 goals deserved their win no matter that was it biased reffing or not.

You have all rights to feel disappointed but the referees wasn't in the ice scoring
any goals for Finland and deal with that fact we can't win all possible gold medals every year

When game goes overtime in U20 WJC's the skill advantage rises high value
and that advantage was this time in Canada's side in May in Tampere it was our side
that's hockey and it happens.

The lesson what we got from this is that
if you don't score in your own scoring chance then opposite team will score their chance.
it is so simple.

I don't know about you
but i'm not disappointed at all because i knew that already Canada will win this game
they were so clear number 1 gold favorite as ever was possible.
and yet they still needed all the help possible, the reason they are laughable and point of the post you answered. may be too difficult for you

Finland newswriters are beyond cocky when they win against a Sweden. Finland with a full team and Sweden with the best players not there. Finland deserve resent success, but i just hate winners acting like that.

Still hoped Finland would have won.

Congrats Canada! But this ain't over, we will be back ;)

Even bigger congratulations to our boys, incredible fight to the finish. From 2-0 to 2-2 and the gold in OT was literally few inches away, this team showed Sisu with capital S.
Kiitos Leijonat!

Finnish players and their fans should be proud of how they played and battled through adversity. What a gutsy effort for them to get that to OT and were inches away from winning it.

Seems like Canada or Finland for gold has become the new standard.

Until we meet again Finnish friends. Sisu is real and it’s a quality that I and others admire. We can relate to it in our own way.

Hopefully our shared love of hockey will always continue.
