I know some say it's still early, but it's not. Berrios has been awful all season and there are only 2 reliable starters. Our top players have been inconsistent. We are passed the early stages, and it's time to be worried. Team wil be sinking fast soon if things don't turn around.

I remember way back in Feb when most people were fawning over Toronto's pitching staff, and my exact words were, they are not as good as everyone thinks. I posted those exact words on this forum 4 months ago....

Remember when baseball use to be a game of strategy, remember when the coach actually influenced his roster and made decisions that impacted the game. Those were good times. Blue Jays strategy this year is if we score 7 we win... there's no small ball, there's no execution on pitching. Kirk is a great hitter but I'm not so sure of his ability to call a game. If the Jays aren't hitting the hide off the ball they don't win.

Any hooo, Jay's will get 3 or 4 all stars, barely make the playoffs and get eliminated a week later or barely miss the playoffs, this season is kinda predictable. Poor pitching, lack of execution, inconsistent hitting from our stars, a few injuries and a flailing team.

Boring product to watch.

The biggest concerns are the rotation and bullpen. No matter how good of an offense a team has, they can't overcome both. Management can't fix both this year and not many options are down in the minor league system either. I am not too optimistic about this season anymore.

Makes you wonder what the Jays would look like if they kept AA and never brought in Shatkins.

... a bare farm system and a team worse than the A's? AA kinda lucked into the Jays and Braves at the right time.

Combination of a drop in fastball Velo, command and way less swings and misses.

His fastball has fallen off which has led to him relying on his other pitches more which has led to the ball getting crushed.

I thought I read somewhere that his spin rate is down quite a bit.

Coming back to this ...

Buck and Pat - justifiably - take heat for the Brett/Jeter stuff and over-focusing on wins and RBI over newer better stats.

But the job they do in talking about pitch selection/location and strategy and how the pitcher/catcher and hitter are approaching an at-bat and what adjustments are being made is the best I've heard on any MLB broadcast. Like, it's really good. There are a lot of MLB broadcasts that don't mention this at all and watching those to me feels really weird and empty after listening to Jays broadcasts.

Baseball is baseball, if you know ball , you could be 70 or 7 years old, if you get it you get it... you dont need advance stats to tell you if your team sucks, if you are scoring RBI's that means people are getting on base at the end of the day that is all you want is the pitcher executing on his pitches and your hitter getting on base.

Berrios has been a tire fire all year except for a few starts. It's definitely not too early to be concerned because he is showing zero signs of a turnaround.

If you're going to allow hard contact, then pair it with Ks and swinging strikes to limit the damage. Both of those are way down from last year, so I don't have much hope.

The Braves were trash when AA got hired as the GM there. Hadn't won a playoff series in a long time, too

Now they're a great team with a solid farm/drafting system. Oh and they also won the world series last year

The upcoming 8 games vs Red Sox and Tampa will say a lot of about this team. Anything worse than 4 and 4 than you have some major issues that need immediate adressing.

The Braves had all of their major pieces before he arrived. Freeman, Albies, Acuna, Swanson, Riley, Fried, and Anderson. He strengthened the bullpen, and added Morton, Duvall, and Soler for their championship run but outside of that his strength has been locking up guys to team friendly deals and replacing Freeman with Olson.

The Olson deal was also pretty pricey so we can’t talk about what a great farm system he’s built to sustain a longer competitive window as he’s moved a lot of his pieces for the 2021 championship + acquiring Olson. The Jays on the other hand have that same window to go along with a 2022 draft where they expect to reload quite a bit of talent.
