Pulling Stripling at 80 pitches just seems beyond baffling when you have a paper thin pen... analytics aren't always taking into account the wafer thin pen... "oh f*** off, i'm full...i can't eat another bite of this bullpen"

Yup. Said this at the time.

Stripling allowed a run in the 5th but really it was just the one big hit - the double with nobody out. He then easily retired the side on light contact and was on 80 pitches.

Pulling him there forced a bullpen that has like 2 reliable arms right now to throw 4 innings and put Thornton in high leverage. Dumb.

IMO, a lot of the bullpens issues spring from what you posted

It's 3 years straight of the pen being overused in the 1st few months and then turning to shit

Agreed. It's different if you have a stud bullpen. Right now it's close to the bottom.

No doubt, but you just knew with the 1st 2 swings that if he put it in play it was 2 outs
