Especially after he got 2 straight outs. He battles through that inning and you know he was going to get that 3rd out. Bad pitching change in my opinion.

He was playing the stats I suppose, having Santana lighter bat from the right side.

In the end, a team has to be a team. You simply can't rely on Xs and Os alone in sports. If your non-star is pegged in the head on the first pitch, the pitcher stares at him as in "F you". No apology, no head in his hands, I am protecting my team by hitting the very next Seattle batter we face.

This seems to be a Toronto pattern. A team is far more than just stars and stratagy, its cohesion and comeraderie. Merifield was rightfully angry, he didn't get the backup any player deserves with such a dangerous throw. Gibbons would have been thrown from the game.

The Jays fans understood this and booed loudly, why didn't the Jays understand this? It wasn't a tie game, you have an 8-1 lead, they hit your teammate in the head. Respond. Everytime.

As a volleyball coach for over 30 years, I know that sometimes you make decisions you think are right but turn out bad. If they turn out bad, you’re still responsible for the result, even if you thought it was the right decision.

Schneider made several poor decisions tonight and he has to live with the consequences. From taking out Gausman to leaving Romano in to try and get six outs to not putting in a defensive outfielder. He’s going to be questioned and it may have cost him a managing job. He’s not going to sleep well tonight.

I didn’t say I want him fired, I said he might’ve submarined his career. That’s just an observation. Pressure will be on Atkins this offseason. That makes people do things that they might not necessarily do.

And no, the Rays aren’t expected to contend in the same way. Everyone knows they run on a tight budget and just getting in is a huge success for them, relatively speaking.
My take,

Schneider badly managed this game but at the same time, it's time for Atkins to finally address the finer parts of this team like the bullpen, this is now 2 seasons where that is liability for this team. They need at least another Romano level arm if not 2. A manager can only go to the options available to him. John Schneider can't spawn Roberto Osuna to come out of that pen.

The Rays have been just as successful as the Red Sox or Yankees in the regular season for a decade + now...their budget matters if it was in the hands of a team like the Pirates or Rockies...it's not. They have a proven system and development/coaching which is why they continuously contend. A bigger payroll would just make them the Dodgers in that they could keep everyone.

I mean I don’t disagree with anything you said there.

Dodgers have developed some of their players, so their development is top notch. They can spend on whoever since they invest in their team.

Their pitching in 2020 finally lived up to the hype to go along with their offesne.

8 - 1 lead and you choke it up. Young team, immature team, predictable ending. Toronto hitters never picked up that Seattle was pounding the outside for right handed batters, we chased far too many bad pitches. Umping was piss poor for both teams. As bad as this team was tonight, the manager left a few bullets in the chamber. As a coach there is no more helpless feeling than a big lead and the other team that keeps coming..

I know there are die hard supporters of this team here who will never agree with me but there is something seriously wrong with the attitude of the team's core. The egos here are beyond huge and the arrogance pours from the TV screen.

There is no denying the talent level but I'm not sure it's going to matter when the team acts like a bunch of frat boys at a party on most days. I don't see playoff success at any point in the future with this core. Too much ego and arrogance and not enough professionalism.

The last week of the 1987 season is still the worst moment in Blue Jays' history. 7 straight losses to drop from a 3.5 game lead in the division with a 96-59 record. That team had looked great up to that point, seemed destined to win 100 games with the best record in baseball.

I think Teo is gone this offseason, too much questionable effort this year.
I got no problem with selling high on him. Jays were giving Moreno reps at CF earlier. I wonder if you could just put Moreno in right field and keep both Kirk and Jansen. Moreno has great speed which is pretty unheard of for a catcher and has a great arm that should play well there.

We can use the reason (excuse) that they are young and inexperienced, but there's no way a team this talented should be blowing a game like this.

And now, we have to wait an entire year again to see how well they can fare in the playoffs. Sigh.
