bad decision by the manager but the bullpen Atkins put together was below average. When teams are rolling in 2-3 guys who throw 95+ and are strikeout machines the Jays throw our Cimber, Mayza, and Richards among others.

Tapia played way too much this year, especially under Montoyo. He was supposed to be a 4th outfielder but played almost every day.

I think they need to look at Bo and whether he should move over to 2B and be elite there vs just ok at SS.

Move spare parts to upgrade the roster needs. No need to have 4 catchers vying for playing time. They can fetch a good price in the marketplace. Biggio should be moved as well.

I think the barrio needs to be remodeled and closed for the season.

Shap needs to really evaluate Atkins and decide if he is the guy to take this team over the hump. Although, I don't know how much input Shapiro gives in the baseball moves. It could very well be Shapiro who has the final say in trades and player signings.

This hurts. Without Bo there, you make the play.

82 feet needed and Springer got 84 feet and that was with him peeling back to avoid Bo. Springer probably covers 90 feet without Bo there.

That definitely would have been an iconic play in Jays history instead it’s an iconic play in Jays history.

Bichette does this all the time. He plays everyone else's position in addition to his own. He gets in the way and causes risk of injury, as happened today.

I blame poor coaching and weak management, because this has been going on all season long. Someone needs to firmly instruct Bichette that he is not the only fielder that can catch a ball, and to not get in the way of his teammates in their own territories.

Usually the others laugh it off, but this one was no laughing matter.

The managing was poor under Montoyo, team came out the gate flat and it wasn't until he was ousted they got on a roll. But the issues on this team with poor defensive plays, terrible plate discipline, inconsistent bullpen, half of the starting rotation being complete ratchet, list goes on..

I’m over it, the paid has passed and me being upset won’t change a damn thing that this team blew elephant ass after 8-1.

Anthony Bass’ only 2 post season experiences with fans were in with the 2015 Rangers where he saw the bat flip and then this weekend.

After tonight and what happened in 2015, he doesn’t have fond memories in this stadium.

That boy gave up 3 straight hits to load the bases, which lead to the disaster that was the 8th inning.
For the life of me, why was he even in the game...should've put in Cimber FFS.

That wasn’t his worst decision today. It wasn’t pulling Gausman early either.

It was leaving Romano in for the 9th after a stressful 8th and having already thrown a lot of pitches.

Honestly, should’ve put Cimber, Phelps or even Berrios in if they had no other traditional bullpen arms. Leaving Romano in was a huge gamble and it backfired spectacularly.

Schneider could have done so much differently. Gaus was already on a high pitch count and ended up loading the bases, should he even have started the inning?

Why did we get married to the idea this wasn't a do or die game? Use another starter.

Why didnt Bradley come in as a defensive replacement when we were up 7 runs?
Gausman's sinker was still working magic in the 6th and Garcia only took 7 pitches to get out of the 7th and I thought he should've at least started the 8th

..and Bradley in left field instead of Tapia was a no-brainer to me

If I would've managed the Jays from the couch today they would've made it to a game 3 on Sunday

I don’t think it’s really settled in what a colossal collapse that actually was.

Once tomorrow hits and the next few days give time for reflection, we’ll realize this game will go down in Jays infamy.

This might be the worst loss in Jays history.

Loveeeeee HfBoards and it's reactionary nature. Always a good read. In my humble opinion, we weren't equipped in the pen to win anything this year. I came to grips with that after the trade deadline. This was absolutely the worst way to go out BUT now hopefully this pushes the powers that be to make a winning decision this off season and actually spend money on PEN ARMS! (It's again the front offices philosophy) BUT it's apparent. Numbers are numbers.... our BP was a mirage all year. Also, that play between BO and Springer has been happening quite a bit the last few weeks (Not specially those two... BO alot) Tons of confusion on Texas leaguer hit balls and it finally cost us in the biggest moment of the season. If BO didn't track that ball, like others have posted, Springer leaves the ball and it's 1-2 runs max and we still have the lead.

This might sound "out there", but why not use Berrios in the 7th or 8th? We pay him a ton of money and he probably wasn't starting tomorrow anyways. It's do or die time out there and any asset should be weaponized IMHO. Romano, expected to get 6 outs when I don't think he's every had to do that before it just not fair. In a perfect world he should be our 8 th inning guy next year. I doubt that will happen but it would be nice to have a bit of a committee in the back end of the pen.

These are just my debriefing thoughts on a very good team that just couldn't get out of their own way. Congrats to the M's they battled adversity well and made great moves at the deadline that helped them beat us.

Another season in the books.... I was mad but now I'm just disappointed. Keep up the great banter in here. It's a great board, let's not go full fan boy/girl overload. It is what it is. Losing 2-1 or 10-9 doesn't matter at the end of the day. It's baseball.

Until the off season my friends!

I sincerely hope Mayza is gone in the offseason.
I have said this all year BUT he had some moments that kept the analytics train moving and with ZERO lefty help it was bound to happen. When he spiked that ball to make it 8-2 I knew we going to be in one. Nice guy and wish the best for him, but not with us.

In the post season for sure.

It’s up there with blowing a 3-1 lead against Kansas City in the 85 ALCS.

Schneider lost it. Gausman is paid to finish those innings. Too bad because I think Schneider was top notch all half season.
Schneider I think should stay for a full season with a proper bullpen. Let him beat the dumb out of the defense. It will be interesting to see which route the front office goes on that one.

It was an atrocious collapse in front of the home fans who were going nuts. The thing that softens the blow somewhat is that this was only game 2 - we'd still have to win another coin-toss game just to get to play a vastly superior Houston team.
