Such a surprising move

Didn’t expect Hughes and Gorton to do something like this. Shame on me for expecting a normal draft.

I wonder if they are done or if they try for PLD or a higher draft pick if a player on their board is still available

Dach was a buy-low. Romanov isn't that good or valuable. It was laughable to consider him a core player. I like him and would've liked to keep him but yknow, he's not irreplaceable.

Kirby Dach can do more. With MSL + less likelihood to get benched for making a mistaken, maybe he will.

I like Romanov but he's been among the most overrated players we have in the last decade. It's insane how people still try to argue he's a top pairing defensemen in the making when he's shown absolutely nothing to accredit that. I think what he is right now is essentially where he stays. A decent #4-5 with maybe some #3 upside.

Now we don't know if Dach is just fools gold but he hasn't significantly higher upside than Romanov.

I'm not sold on Slafkovsky for reasons often cited but obviously we will root for him to succeed. Dach though, I dunno it could be a buy-low big time win but there are so many downsides to both the Slaf and Dach moves.

Some cowboy moves from HuGo...

With Harris, Barron, Guhle, Norlinder, Xhekaj & Leskinen, they probably felt like Romanov was worth giving up. Hughes said they didn't really want to trade him, but you have to give to get.

Its not a buy low though, they just traded a 13 OA/a 22 yo top 4 D that plays a unique game for him.
