Exactly. Apparently playing with a full lineup sans a backup goalie is more of a concern than the IIHF letting Germany play games last tournament with 15 players.

Hopefully they can find a way to go forward and reschedule the game however I would rather they cancel the championship than end up with an NFL type situation. That is deplorable.
I believe because at that point they had determined the spread had been isolated. If USA has two positives, I doubt it's going to be at 2 tomorrow.

IIHF changed the rules for this tournament because they're not operating in a fully contained bubble. IIHF and Hockey Canada have teams sharing hotels with the general public.

Let's hope they get this under control right away. Maybe under the circumstances this was the right step to take. The USA will still qualify for the next round in any event. Doesn't matter who they play in the crossover because in a short format event like this you have to beat the teams you play to advance.
In this case it is not going to be fair for anyone. Team USA is not going to get chance to earn an easier QF opponent and somebody need to face fully rested team. There is not a single team who want to face fully rested Team USA after winning their group.

Yes, because of the mandatory team quarantine. US will probably be forced to forfeit tomorrow, too.

The USA would still have to play the remaining games of their schedule to qualify for the crossover. In the crossover round they would be no more rested than anybody else.

Game not games. Unless IIHF changes the rules, USAH will have to forfeit tomorrow, too, because they won't have time to complete the mandatory team quarantine.
If the rest of the team is negative tomorrow I think they are going to play. Rules are one thing, the other thing is that every rule implicitly contains exceptions. This is the basics of every legal theory. We will see tomorrow.
But that means that sweden might get exposed and catch it for a quarterfinal and it is game over.
