This is old news and what we thought was originally going to happen. Coach Zubov changed plans and made a statement saying they were going with the guys they already have.

Ok… didn’t see a date attached to it, assumed it was old but who knows. Stranger things have happened?

Extremely overrated player. Not surprised at all.

He will be a factor next year.

I have to disagree. Miroschnichenko is young, but he is physically strong and has gifted hands. Really handles the puck well, outstanding goal scorer, and he is strong and tough enough to win battles around the net. I am surprised that he does not join his fellow-2004 born mate Michkov on the roster.

This is a very talented team at forward, but also very small. Guys like Khusutdinov, Pashnin, Michkov, Chibirkov and others are going to have a hard time coping with the big defensemen from Canada, the US, Sweden and Finland. Other teams have had success muscling small Russian forwards to the outer regions of the zone, away from prime areas around the net. Miroschnickenko is strong and physical, and at the same, a dangerous scorer. I think they could have used his blend of talent!

In general, though, I am in favor of using Russia-based players on international teams. These kids are going to NA for one reason only, and that is to be spotted by NHL scouts. Nothing wrong with that, but it removes any real motivation they might have to fight hard for a country that they hope never to have to earn a living in. For that reason alone, Russia-based only is a good policy, with perhaps a rare exception made for a true superstar! Miroschnichenko is no superstar yet.

With no Chayka or Kuznetsov the defense looks a little suspect to me. Not really a big Mukhamadullin fan but Kirsanov I like. Center depth might be better than usual for Team Russia. Svechkov's 2way game could be a difference maker, going to have to be good for Russia to medal.

What are the expectations Russian fans have for Mitchkov? Ovechkin was GPG in his first WJC.

6+1 in 6 games would be terrible for Michkov, he must play 7 games.

What are the expected lines now that rosters are looking solidified? anyone know?
this is what id like to see but could be way off on what would be the best lineup

Khusnutdinov - Svechkov - Michkov
Chibrikov - Guslistov - Yurov
Tyutnev - Ponomaryov - Pashin
Didkovsky - Zlodeyev - Tankov

Chibrikov, Svechkov and Michkov looked solid in the MHL. Yurov and Pashin were good together at 4 Nations, and I'd add Tankov to them. He's big, skates great and can play defense.

i believe someone said it had leaked that they wanted to have Marat Svechkov and Michkov on their 1st line. But i do agree they have many options if ever things dont look great to start

Zinchenko was taken to the „mens“ team at the EHT. Also was selected above many talented guys to the U20 squad. So I could imagine Zubov has some plans with him. He looked quite good with Chibrikov too. Before the EHT I thought Chibrikov - Svechkov - Michkov is a sure thing. But Zubov never tried the three together… Possible lineups can hardly be predicted. Zubov didn't even have half the team at EHT. The rest of them played with the U20. The one and only sure thing in my opinion is Khus on the first line.

Is Demidov a player who could have a great impact in this team ? What type of player is he ?

Forwards or players?

The whole team lacks right handed shooters. I mean I get it, Petrov was almost invisible at the U18. But first of all his MHL season was quiet strong. He had eg for sure a better season than Miro, who lost time in NA and had a so so start with Omsk. Second Petrov had to play on the 4th line. Miro, quite undeserved, played with Yurov and Svechkov on one of the strongest lines in the tournament and Miro was only a passenger. Chib was the LW on the Michkov line. So he and Poltapov had to fight for the 3rd LW spot and Poltapov looked better at the time. Not a big deal in my eyes. As of now he is playing a season like our 2nd overall pick Svechnikov… so I don’t get it how you can’t invite maybe the one and only true elite right handed shooter at the moment, while he is playing a really strong season.

He is going to score a lot of goals! If you asked the same question about Gretzky at the same age, the answer would be the same. He is a goal-scoring superstar - period, the end, exclamation point! He has never been in a tournament that he did not dominate on the scoreboard. The team may or may not have a good tournament, but he is going to score a lot of goals! Even at age 17, he is a good bet to be the overall scoring leader and leading goal scorer of the tournament on the final day. As they say, it's what he do!

You can always find a place for a guy who has a natural scoring touch. Really good hands. Not great physical qualities, but he gets on the score sheet.

Rotenberg did not confirm anything, but it looks like Ivan Miroshnichenko´s absence is connected to not-ideal-COVID recovery.
