Essentially he was cut, though there was no camp to get cut from. Canada brought back the same team from December except for the players who chose not to return, and Clarke wasn't on that team. Seeley was on the December team, and Thompson likely would have made it if not for covid.

Seeley was one of TC best players before the WJC got shut down in December and Thompson was a favourite to make the roster before he got injured.
The only thing that Clarke has on these two at this point in time is draft position.

Othmann wasn't on the team. I guess Othmann made it but Clarke didn't, one isn't related to the other. It probably helped that seven forward spots opened up rather than only two defencemen. I'm glad that Othmann made it to provide some more offence to the forward group, and I would have liked Clarke as well even in a depth role.
