LOL sorry about being the bearer of bad news. This may not be exact but I am sure it will be pretty darn close.

I don't think NHL teams will encourage anyone who has a realistic chance of making their team, has an injury (Guenther) or played very late into the season (Mem Cup teams).

Theres no reason to think Cossa will be with Detroit. They have Husso and Ned in the NHL, hes no beating either of them as a pro rookie for a spot

You are correct about Cossa not playing in the NHL next year, my thinking on Cossa was he was the third goalie last Christmas and he just played a lot of hockey through the WHL playoffs and Mem Cup until late June. Will he or Detroit really want to make an extremely short summer of rest and training, 4 weeks shorter, to be the third goalie?

Never going to be able to swing a tourney during Christmas, so was able to find some time with work to head down to Edmonton for this one. Just grabbed tickets.

Pretty damn excited for this tourney.
Good for you. What kind of seats and how much did it set you back?

Thanks!

Ended up splurging on the medal package which has the QF and SF game, that Canada would be involved in, along with the Bronze and Gold games.

Center ice, about half way up the section, behind the "Oilers" bench.

Definitely not cheap. But probably will be easier to stomach than the damage the wife is going to do at West Edmonton Mall on the trip.

Hopefully some other posters will be able to make it out.

I attended the U20 in Ottawa and it was a gas. Money well spent, I can't begin to tell you how much fun it was.

Re : "Definitely not cheap. "

Come on.... be more specific. Just humour me with a ballpark number, please. :)

I attended one in Buffalo and it was GREAT. So much fun.

I dont really think its a guarantee that Cossa would be the third goalie. He'll be the sharpest having played the most recently and played really well down the stretch.

I've gone twice and it as very enjoyable both times. Best weather you'll probably ever see for a WJC at the very least, plus there will be plenty of good players there.

That's definitely possible he did play well in the playoffs. I was giving my opinion on who we will see on the team and him being the third goalie at Christmas probably didn't sit well with him at the time, and I am guessing he doesn't want to give up so much training time to potentially be third goalie. I guess we will see soon.

So far I have been right that Neighbours and Perfetti aren't going and that Jack Thompson will play.

Add in Jarvis, Sillinger, Drysdale and Byfield and that's one hell of a team lol.
Future is looking pretty bright again for Canadian hockey, especially with Mcdavid still pretty young

My gut feeling (I choose to be optimistic)...

Power - zero chance he plays
Perfetti - better than average chance he plays
McTavish - 50/50
Guhle - 50/50
Neighbours - opted out
Wright - I think he plays
Guenther - 50/50
Bourgault - better than average chance he plays
Sourdif - better than average chance he plays
Cossa - better than average chance he plays

But why not? I guess I'm naïve believing it would help their stock going into the fall.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, GS. I'm just hoping/wishing for a very strong team in August. Can't help it.
unfortunately Perfetti is confirmed not playing, Jets want him to get ready for training camp (pretty much pencilled into the top 6 at this point as long as he doesn't blow it)

Odds on Wright playing?
No clue, but hopefully high.

I think falling to 4 was a blessing in disguise for Wright. As he wasn’t taken first overall, it is far more likely that he may be returned for another CHL year. The kid really just needs the reps…and if the plan is not for him to join the big club off the hop, there’s no valid reason he would not be at the tournament (or the one happening this Christmas).

Well said.

There are 42 former first-round picks technically eligible for this team.
Nice!

Wow... Not cheap. Good thing Alberta is rich. :)

Anyway, thanks for the info and enjoy your tournament.

Thank you, my friend.

200 bucks per game is not cheap by any means. But should be a great experience.

I'm excited to see some roster news trickle out here. Would be really cool to see Wright pop back on this squad. I think it would do wonders for his confidence to step back in at this stage and perform.

More game action the better for him at this point. Especially if he is going to likely be seeing another year of OHL action to continue his seasoning.

Seen a video of Kent johnson talking in a interview at Columbus blue jackets dev camp and he said he is expecting to play at the world juniors in August so obviously Columbus said he could go
