Anyone have a list of who we can expect to be missing this summer?

Nobody knows for sure, but you should expect half the team to be '03s and a few '04s and 1 exceptional '05 preping for the Christmas tournament...so you shouldn't get too emotionally invested in this re-jigged tournament from last Christmas. Just enjoy for what it is, a bit of summer hockey...whoever shows up - shows up. There's not much to it than that.

He wasn't all that good at the U18 tournament a few months ago. and that was a tournament for '04 born players. what makes you think he'll be an impactful player in a tourney for '02 born players? Unless we get a lot of players opting out, I don't see much of a role for Fantilli.

Yup Fantilli was disappointing to say the least in that tournament.

Fair enough and thanks!

I was just hoping for poster's guesses but, as you said, no one really knows.

Good! for a minute there I thought you came here looking for informed hockey intel and opinions. You've come to the wrong forum if you're looking for that. although many here like to play dress-up and pretend.

I wonder if Wright plays after falling in the draft? I think many assumed he would not earlier...

I thought he was good if not snake bitten for much of the tournament. But that OT drop pass ...

Wright is someone I'm very curious about even for 2023. If he had gone first there would be pretty good odds that he would be thrust into the NHL because that is what almost always happens, especially at forward. As a fourth overall pick he may get sent back to junior, and honestly he could use that experience.

I believe Seattle will allow him to go just to establish some positive momentum heading into the season. Deserving or not he’s had a rollercoaster last six months and giving him a clean slate would likely be a big boost emotionally.

WHOA!!!! You don't think they will be encouraged to play by their NHL team?

Thanks for the list but... Ouch! Quite a gut punch. 🤮

Next time I'm looking for some bad news, I'll be sure to contact you.

No wonder @Gold Standard Standard implied it could be bad : "...you shouldn't get too emotionally invested in this re-jigged tournament from last Christmas".

I agree. I think he plays.

LOL sorry about being the bearer of bad news. This may not be exact but I am sure it will be pretty darn close.

I don't think NHL teams will encourage anyone who has a realistic chance of making their team, has an injury (Guenther) or played very late into the season (Mem Cup teams).

Hopefully you are off by half - it would make a huge difference.

Thank God we have some better than average players to fill in the blanks.

With Daemon Hunt being the last cut at defense a few months ago, and with him being healthy enough to attend Wild Development Camp, I have to assume he'd be there at WJC if there is a spot, no?

In my view, Carter Savoie should be very close to an automatic choice and Ryan Tverberg should get very serious consideration.

I'll clarify that his play was good but some were expecting a better more dominant performance for a highly touted 03 draft pick but small game sample maybe?

Crazy how this is a month away and we really have no idea what the team is gonna look like. Hopefully at the end of the week we get some reporting on it once free agency cools down.

Most of the players are at their respective teams development camps so we probably won't get much news until next weekend at the earliest.

Right teams will decide after development camp.
This gives some kids a chance to get warmed up for NHL camp and get another good tournament under their belt.
It is a momentum situation that will provide extra information.
Unless they are going to make the NHL or not 100%, I would send them.
I am not a fan of burning elc's or giving 9 games at the beginning of the season.
Send them down, have em go to 23 World Jrs also and make roster moves by the trade deadline if they are excelling. Then call them up for the last 9 games and save that year with the elc slide, while still integrating them with greater information, development and confidence in that decision before the end of the season.

NHL teams can't recall a CHL player who has been sent down until after his CHL season has ended.

FWIW: Here was the selection camp roster in December.
