Most teams are gonna be missing their best players. Finland looks like the only team so far without major omissions. No Wyatt Johnston? Seriously?
This is going to end up being a genuine “B” team, missing 12-15 eligible players.
Matthew Savoie, too. Why can't he play? Unless there is an injury, I am really disappointed. No way he plays with the Sabres out of the gate.No Wyatt Johnston? Seriously?

Savoie missed Buffalo’s development camp with an injury, so that might be a consideration.Matthew Savoie, too. Why can't he play? Unless there is an injury, I am really disappointed. No way he plays with the Sabres out of the gate.
It's still going to be a pretty good team.

Yes, we’ll be good, but the 2020 and 2021 drafts were incredible for Canada, and everything is flying out the window.
^Thanks for this.^The WJT summer camp that the Tweet is referencing is for the 2023 WJC team. It has nothing to do with the 2022 tournament being played in August.
Johnston not attending the camp has nothing to do with whether he plays in the summer WJC. There was no way he was going to play deep into June with the Spits and then go to 2023 camp for a week and then go play 2022 August tournament.
I think there is a good chance that he still plays in the August one and the 2023 Christmas one as I don't think he will be with the Stars past his 9 games if he gets that. Missing the summer camp just gives him a weeks rest.
That should not be the case. In August, the only competition is the CFL and the Jays. The Jays are "okay" but falling fast, and, while I love the CFL, it is no match for the WJR's.With it being in the middle of summer, with all of the top players missing and the HC scandal and its not hard to figure out why there is not a lot of hype around this.
I agree with you, its my favourite event of the year, but I think those are reasons its not getting the hype a Christmas WJ's gets. That should not be the case. You lost me, NA.I agree with you, its my favourite event of the year, but I think those are reasons its not getting the hype a Christmas WJ's gets.
You lost me, NA.
If I was TSN, I'd be hyping the <bleep> out of it because the competition is so weak - the Jays are barely in the playoff race and the CFL is no match. You don't think those are reasons for the general lack of enthusiasm or hype for the summer event?
Just curious then, why do you think it is getting less hype then?
Personally I think you lose a section of people who generally are excited about it because it's in the summer. You lose another group of people because countries top stars are not attending (Holtz, Raymond, Eklund, Beniers, Sanderson, Perfetti, Power, Wright etc) and you lose a small amount more due to the HC stuff going on right now.
I may be wrong but that's my initial thought on why there hasn't been more hype for this event.
Re : "Savoie missed Buffalo’s development camp with an injury, so that might be a consideration."
Fair enough.
Re : "Yes, we’ll be good, but the 2020 and 2021 drafts were incredible for Canada, and everything is flying out the window."
You're right. It could have been amazing.
^Thanks for this.^
Do we have any idea who will be on the team next month?
Perhaps @Gold Standard can pick up his Sunday breakfast coffee mug (after Church, of course), pen and paper and give us a roster we can think about?
If I was TSN, I'd be hyping the <bleep> out of it because the competition is so weak - the Jays are barely in the playoff race and the CFL is no match.
But maybe there's not enough viewers in August, with everyone on vacation, for the effort - and that's what you were getting at.
Amen, brother.Nope, no prospective roster coming for the summer WJHC do-over. And my only interest in the summer WJHC do-over is to get an eye on any '03-'04 and '05 born players for my 2023 roster thread coming in September.
Don't know why you really want or need a lot of hype for this summer do-over. I couldn't care less if I'm the only watching...makes no difference to me. This is just summer hockey, find a nice little sheltered corner next to your swimming pool, fire up the BBQ and crack open some local craft brews and enjoy a hockey game with some smash burgers and a few pops. That's my plan.
Thanks! At the Sabres dev camp, he didn't skate and hoped he would be cleared for contact this week due to recovering from the shoulder injury that knocked him out of the Ice playoff series and ended his season.
Give me one reason to support this garbage narrative, please.i have a hard time believing Canada isn't getting the boot from this tournament...
ya kinda opened up a can of worms with the Russia thing.
Their organization has multiple gang rape accusations that took place while they were representing their company during a tournament that they made money off of.Give me one reason to support this garbage narrative, please.
Hockey Canada is fully cooperating with the investigation and none of the accused (who are not known, and emphasis on accused) are involved in this team in any way, shape, or form.
Please don't open that can of worms in this thread, D. Pretty please.Give me one reason to support this garbage narrative, please.

PLEASE do NOT do this HERE - there is a thread for it.Their organization has multiple gang rape accusations that took place while they were representing their company during a tournament that they made money off of.
Russian players had nothing to do with their country invading Ukraine but you don't see them on the ice these days.
I don't want Canada to be banned and I didn't want Russia to be banned either. But if you're going to start banning countries, can you really say "oh come here Hockey Canada, host this tournament and make some money"
Regardless of whether Russia should have been banned from international hockey, which I don't support actually, the comparison is stupid. An appropriate comparison would be if USA Hockey had been banned for the handling of Reid Boucher or something like that.Their organization has multiple gang rape accusations that took place while they were representing their company during a tournament that they made money off of.
