Zero expectations for Bedard in this tournament, but wouldn't it be great if he did make an impact as the youngest guy on the team?
He really does seem special, but it would be super rewarding as a hockey fan to see him do something special in this tournament.

Strange because I really liked the Power-Zellweger pair

Zellweger didnt seem as dynamic in that game as he did in the camp games. Maybe theyre thinking splitting Power and him up will allow the 2 of them to be a little more free to do whatever they want out there. Seeley and Sebrango are both pretty steady guys out there

Does anyone know why Brandt Clarke isn’t on this team? Surprises me every time I hear about them, I don’t hear any reasons as to why hes not. WTF

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy hey Baby! huuu haaa I wanna Know O O if you'd be my girl!

Alright boys and girls...the sun is about to crack open the sky over Cape Spear in about an hour or so... That means it's game day. Get your adult beverages (if you are old enough to consume adult beverages) and favorite snacks ready.

Will be staying up late in England (EST+5) for the next week or two, go Canada

If by some chance Bedard does make his way into the top 5 six, who get booted out?
Seems like McTavish-Johnson-Bourque is gonna stick for the whole tournament. Does Wright go, or Bourgault? Or Bourque?

He won’t; despite the fact numerous players (most notably recently Lundell against Canada in 2019) at 16 can have a big impact, Dave Cameron seems stuck in his ways

It's not that Dave Cameron is stuck in his ways, it is very much a Hockey Canada mindset. We have seen it over the years, 16 year olds are given very little latitude to make mistakes. and by very little I mean practically none. To make his way into the Top 6 Bedard will have to contribute offensively immediately and make zero mistakes with the puck or without it. 1st. defensive assignment he misses he'll find himself riding the pine.

Out of some early morning boredom I decided to work this out, and by my count Canada has missed a healthy player for this tournament due to NHL or similar reasons around 259 times. That's since Canada started sending all star teams in 1982. Next closest by a fair margin is USA at 58.

The only year that Canada actually did have access to every healthy player was in the losing effort of 2013. The WJC tournament that was least impacted by players missing due to the NHL was actually 2006, despite there being no lockout that year. Crosby was the only healthy eligible player who was held out of that tournament.

Wright has to show up today, there, I said it.

Passenger status on a first line won't cut it, being solid defensively isn't good enough, he has to be an effective player on that line offensively too.

Is Johnson/McTavish not the defacto 1st line? Seems to be that way, even PP1 as well.

Posted this in the game thread but I'll elaborate a little here. I know Power has a hatrick but for some reason he worries me out there sometimes defensively. Guhle and Sebrango have been physical and steady back there and Bedard is really coming on to end the game.

Power deserved player of the game obviously with his PP hatrick but I didnt love his game outside of the powerplay for some reason, I may be way off here. I really liked Guhle and Sebrango all game though, just steady, the puck is on their stick and gone to break out and solid defesnively. Zellwegger really turned it on after the first as well. I really didnt like Lambos either.

For the forwards, Bedard has already earned his way onto a higher spot in the lineup, hes gonna stay there. I really liked Perfetti's game and McTavish's obviously. Johnson not so much at all. I thought Sourdif was really good until that bone head hit as well. Neighbours had a solid showing too, he doesnt lose board battles.

The absolute biggest question going into next game is goaltending. Garand definitely opened the door for the other 2. Was Cameron just sending a message to Cossa tonight or will he go with Brochu next game? I think if Garand was a stud tonight they may have given it to Brochu but I think theyre going Cossa to see what he has after a full warm up and having the starter mindset. Going to be very interesting
