Speculation: 2022 Summer/off season Sharks Roster Discussion

There is no way to know what the Sharks think given the guy that makes those decisions now just got hired on Tuesday. If the new guy has a brain, he will clearly see that they're very much equals given every shred of evidence out there.
Yeah except the guy who made the deal is still there. It's not some guarantee but odds are heavily in favor that they see Kahkonen in a better light than they see Hill. If it was roughly equal, they wouldn't have bothered to make the trade to begin with. But Kahkonen's time with the Sharks clearly shows he's better than Hill's time with the Sharks.

I don’t see Burns moving until the UFA market kicks up. I think teams will see the options on defense and look for alternatives like Burns or Petry

When it comes to Burns and their goalie situation, it'll best for them to get out ahead of that. There are limited windows of opportunity for these sorts of deals and they need to make sure to do it and not wait it out.

Sharks should sign Dylan Strome since he’s becoming a UFA now. His analytics are pretty good, and he’s an absolute finisher we have been seriously lacking
A finisher that in 273 games has just barely hit 20 goals for the 1st time? Are we going to change thornton's designation as a player from playmaker to a finisher also considering thornton at one point had 11 straight seasons of 20+ goals.

He scored 22 goals last year in 69 games. That would be 4th in goals on our team, one behind couture who played 8 more games. We need to increase scoring and that is not easy to do with high UFA prices. We need to find value in odd places to get any better

I’m not saying we should spend the bank on him, but if Chicago isn’t qualifying and can’t find a trade he can’t be that expensive.

Are you going to play him with 70% zone starts and give him one of Kane or Debrincat as his linemates? He's a fringe 3C. Would be fine for him in a sheltered OZ start role as 3C, but he's not "an absolute finisher" and is being non-tendered for a reason.

Yes we need someone that scores goals, and he is not it.

I wouldn’t play him as a center, but if you can put him with guys who can pass I think you could get a lot of goals out of him and he won’t cost us a 7x7 contract

Pretty fair on the debrincat deal. Chicago should be happy if any of those picks turn out as good as Debrincat, but could also come out ahead if multiple picks pan out.

Debrincat only got 7th overall and change? Absolute steal for the Sens, holy crap. Sharks should have been in on that if it was only 11th overall plus.

Those picks could turn into a similar prospect trio as Eklund, Bordeleau, and Guschin as they were all about the same draft pick slots. That would be a win for Chi I believe.

Wtf lol one second he’s giving it up for Murray the next he got Debrincat for it

Please never trade Meier if this is the price young elite players get on the market
Someone had a great comment on the trade board thread that was along the lines of "Matt Murray's best save"

Yea, if Debrincat got this return, Meier would arguably get less, and that would absolutely not be worth it.

You never know, Jersey might give up more

Depends on Meier's willingness to extend. I'd take less than that if I know he's not willing to stay long term. If he is then pay him and not worry about it. But if not then talk to teams with high draft picks and see if they want Meier and if he's willing to extend there.

Why is chicago trading a 21 year old that has barely scratched any of his potential? Especially if they think he is worth a top 15 pick.

Hard for us to match/beat that if Hawks wanted picks only

Like what would that even be for Sharks... this and next 1st?
