Pretty much what I was hoping for. Carlsson isnt a bad option for Cleveland and a depth call up guy but realistically hes gonna be passed up by a lot of guys in a short period so now he can go look for a better opputunity elsewhere.
Stenlund I just dont think is good so thats no surprise

Both 2015 draftees.

Jarmo traded the 34th and 68th picks to move up to 29 to take Carlsson.

That draft...
32 - Christian FIscher
34 - Travis Dermott
35 - Sebastian Aho
37 - Brandon Carlo
38 - Paul Bittner
42 - Mackenzie Blackwood
43 - Erik Cernak
58 - Kevin Stenlund
60 - Oliver Kylington
68 - Martins Dzierkals
69 - Keegan Kolesar (traded to draft Texier)
72 - Anthony Cierlli
129 - Sam Ruopp (CBJ)
135 - Kirill Kaprizov
141 - Veeti Vainio (CBJ)
148 - Troy Terry
149 - Adam Gaudette
154 - John Marino
159 - Vladislav Gavrikov
166 - Andrew Magiapane
168 - Mason Appleton

Jarmo did find some late gems in that '15 draft (Gavrikov, Nutivarra...though he then traded Nuti for nothing) but also my goodness, he was a few picks away from hitting it out of the park on almost every pick. But he got too focused on drafting for position of need (Dmen) and missed some middle-to-late round finds.

EDIT - that '15 class is both elite and deep.

McDavid, Marner, Rantanen, Aho, Eichel, Kyle Conor, Mathew Barzal, Kirill Kaprizov
Hanifin, Werenski, Provorov, Chabot, Cernak on D

Maybe not '03 good but still a really good draft class, imo.

Add Stenlund to the “2nd round pick graveyard” for the CBJ. We just can’t seem to hit in that round, except of course for Jenner.

Agreed. Bjorkvik-Holm is probably going to start in Cleveland next year who's same type LD, except he gives a better first pass, and is more active offensively and physically. It's time for younger dmen to take bigger roles in the Monsters top-6.

This is the type of player I’d maybe look at. Depending on how we can trade our glut of forwards and his price of course

Drouin is another name I would maybe take a run at depending on the price.
...It's like I don't even know you anymore.

For me it's not so much "hoping for" as "expected".

he shoulda kept the picks and got Aho & KK. jarmo sucks...And if I am reading the chart right we could have had Cernak & Cirelli too instead of Bittner & Carlsson...oy! ( Just saying, hindsight is wonderful0

I don't buy this theory either. It seems rooted in "we suck therefore our standards suck" pessimism to me.
I’m just telling you how it is.

Avalanche
MacKinnon
Kadri

Tampa
Stamkos/Point
Cirelli

Oilers
McDavid
Draisaitl/RNH

NYR
Zibanejad
Strome

Blues
Thomas
O’Reilly
Schenn

Flames
Lindholm
Backlund

Panthers
Barkov
Bennett

Hurricanes
Aho

Matthews
Tavares

Capitals
Kuznetsov
Backstrom

Kings
Kopitar
Danault

Stars
Seguin
Hintz

Wild
Hartman
Erikson Ek

Preds
Johansen
Glass/Duchene

Who is he playing over? And those are just playoff teams, there are bad teams that he’s not playing top6 C on. He wouldn’t be in Winnipeg, Vancouver, Ottawa, New Jersey…

He’s a perfect 3C on a contender.

In that list? Strome, Schenn, Backlund, Staal, Carter, Seguin but not Hintz (Hintz has been the #1C in Dallas for years), maybe Danault altho it'd be a very close thing and I'd probably favor Danault, Hartman and Eriksson Ek both, and Glass didn't even make the NHL roster so of course him.

I think Jenner's getting just a teensy bit underrated, but more importantly I suspect you're working off of impressions of team depth charts and player states that are in some cases multiple years out of date.

I think he could be an effective top 6 wing with the right linemates. If Johnson ends up a center Jenner might compliment him well. I'd definitely like for him to not be our 1C or 2C at the earliest convenience.

Danault is hands down a better center than Jenner. He's seriously so good.

Jenner doesn't suck but if he's one of our top 2 centers I don't see us being that good. Not a knock on him because I have a lot of respect for what he brings.
