Cirelli and Sergachev were heading into the last year of their bridge deals, making 4.8 m. I think these are fair deals. They have a decision point with Stamkos in 2 years, who they supposedly tried to trade earlier.

Tampa is kind of currently serving as exactly the cautionary tale against Gaudreau, as good players on a good team get paid good money. They've always done a good job of moving guys that aren't part of the core to recoup assets, though.

Still on the fence, personally, on if I would pay for Gaudreau above $10 million.

Awful take. I bet you were complaining when they gave Jack Hughes an extension with a career high of 31 points.

Every day you wait the price goes up. If you don't like the player then just say so because this is horrible logic.
didn't complain at all with Hughes or Nico. Those were smart moves that benefited the team after they made a huge commitment to them by drafting them 1st overall. Im not saying i don't like the player but paying him 64M for a 73pt season after 4 years of 31pt seasons is insane. You think his price is only going to go up? Go up to what? C'mon.

Willing to trust JR until he's wrong he had the lottery results 40 minutes before the lottery aired...could of been dumb luck but thats a stupid thing to risk your rep on with how unlikely it was for us to win
That was a solid source and why I don’t trust the lotto process at all if you ask me. I can’t say more then that. This is not as solid of a source but “semi”?

I'm going back to sleep, but I just want all Devils fans to give Fitzgerald some credit -- even if Gaudreau signs elsewhere, this is two years in a row that Fitzgerald made a concerted effort to sign the best free agent on the market.

I know most of the people on HFBoards are cool and get this, but on social media a lot of people are making it seem as if Fitzgerald's job hinges on signing Johnny Gaudreau, and I just don't feel this way. Fitzgerald has done quite well on the trade market and in signing his players, and is coming off a terrific draft. I'm very encouraged by this performance.

It will be annoying if he signs with the Islanders and if it’s them it better be for a large chunk of change.

Dakota Joshua, possible center depth for Utica, went to Vancouver.

Get Cameron Hughes or Luke Philp or Glen Gadwin Fitz!

So TB is planning on retooling after the current crop of older guys move on? Not sure if Cirelli is a true 2C and not sure if Sergachev is a true number one but they have the track record to get the benefit of the doubt.

Cirelli's definitely a 2C. He's very very good. I don't think Serg is a 1. Maybe a 2
