What is the evolving hockey projected contracts for Palat and Niederreiter for anyone who has access?

Curious to see where those two likely come in at

Don’t have any interest in any of the remaining guys. I really thought Fitz was going to get Fiala. Now with no JG and all the other top guys scooped up, I say just no knee jerk moves. They aren’t getting a Laine or Tkachuk or Meier.

Just ride the course, hope the goaltending and power play is better and Alex Holtz and Fabian Zetterlund can contribute next year.

I'd potentially kick the tires on some trades, but I mentioned it a couple of days ago that i had minimal interest in this FA class outside of a couple of people.

At this point I'd probably roll with what we have. If we suck, there's a shot at Bedard, though I think we will probably be too good to have a great shot at that.

I'd sign Niederreiter and call it an offseason. Gaudreau's an incredible, and incredibly talented, player, but his size was an issue given our current roster makeup and he would make our cap structure in 4 years a nightmare. Sign Bratt, pick up a big forward who can score, and move on.

Also, as someone who actually lived in Columbus for 10 years... I do get why someone would want to live there. I'd happily go back.

This man left millions of dollars and a more competitive team horizon on table for Columbus, Ohio. I can't even begin to understand what Gaudreau's motivations were for this move. Astounding stuff.

And turned down a current Cup contender for Ohio. And playing in NY for Ohio. Just a weird choice, but to each their own I suppose.

I wonder why no one is questioning the Isles org since he clearly turned something down there too that couldn't have been far off what he ended up getting.

Yeah that's what I don't get either. He clearly never wanted to be a Devil but the closest thing to his home "location" bullshit was becoming an Islander. So what gives?

Yeah unfortunately that’s what should and is going to happen. Devils don’t have the pieces to trade for a legit top line talent they did with the 2nd but didn’t want in on cat? So really just have to ride it out this year and this coming from someone that’s pro trade

I know, it makes Zero sense . None .
Wanted to go “home “ and be close to family and friends but then signs with Columbus for less money and a long ass drive away from “home” ?
I don’t get it

While this isnt indicative of how I think wed do this year, but if Fitz enters October with no forward acquired id consider free agency a failure

We signed Smith and Geertsen. For a team wanting to be better, that doesnt show me anything.

Rough look, but as someone else said...if I were in Johnny's shoes and grew up a devils fan, I probably couldn't sign with the Rags or Flyers.
I can't imagine anyone would be that maddeningly childish. Taking a bit of a discount to play on your childhood team? Sure, I get it. But leaving *tens* of millions of dollars on the table and moving further away from your family because you rooted against a team as a kid? Pure insanity.

A friend of a friend that works in the business has said John Davidson is arguably the biggest piece of shit he's met in the entire business. This is for hockey/business reasons. Nothing about his personal character or anything slimy or controversial as a human.

Maybe JG didn’t want to play on a team full of short people 🤔

I think we are being a little hyperbolic with "tens of millions" given that difference may have been less than a million a year over 7 years. We also don't know what structure was offered, etc. That can factor into it as well.

I think the family decision was simply getting away from Calgary, not so much moving closer to home. His wife probably hated it there.

It's just bizarre. He turned down more money from CGY, NJ, and NYI. There's clearly something about CBJ specifically that enticed him.

But whatever, there's nothing you can do now. Go get Nino.
