They could ask for Nemec, or bet we're gonna be bad and take Holtz + next years first and some spare parts.
I am not moving Nemec. We made our pick so hes ours now.

Next years 1st is 100% on the board for me. Id like to keep Holtz but will part if need be. Doubt Miller commands Holtz+1st though, probably closer to 1st+Sharangovich or something like that

I just stopped driving to check my phone . I thought we would have signed Gaudreau but Columbus? I was very pissed at first but who knows what happened.
Maybe Fitz got wind that Tkachuk is available and withdrew his offer ? Whatever happened it sucks but don’t want us to make a stupid move and offer Palat stupid money and term.
No interest in Palat honestly. What is he , a 40-50 point guy tops ? And how old? He’s not a first line winger yet he will get paid like one.
Neiderrier for 3rd /2nd line tweener please.
Palat has alot of tough playoff miles on him too

Honestly a pretty frustrating offseason when all is said and done. I can't blame Fitz on the Gaudreau front because I'm sure he did everything in his power to make it happen. But outside of internal development which has been taking ages, this is a critical juncture for the organization with absolutely zero momentum.

I have a feeling we're going to look back at missing out on Gaudreau in 3-5 years and appreciate it, but this just feels so stagnant at this point. Let's pray Alex Holtz pulls his head out of his ass at the NHL level.
Honestly, I'm still more worried about the goaltending.

I think adding Gaudreau to this team (provided we didn't ship someone out of any consequence like Bratt if we did sign him, I don't think we would have shipped him out though) probably would have been enough to cancel out shaky goaltending and make us a pretty good team this year.

It sucks that a team we'll more than likely have to beat out for a playoff spot snagged him. I think I'd rather the Flyers have signed him cause I think they'll be shit no matter what. Columbus didn't even finish as poorly as they could have last year.

Next years first for me is only available if it’s for Tkachuk or Meier

Eh shit happens, he clearly didn’t want to come here. We still hired a tremendous assistant coach, traded Zacha, and drafted an absolute stud who will fortify the backend with Luke for years to come. AND we still have a top-5 at worst group of prospects.

I just hate how this goes. The day started with the Zacha trade, the Brunette hiring... I was so pumped. We end the day and I'm mad we lost out on Gaudreau, I'm wondering what the backup plan is... and I'm very annoyed and concerned Bratt isn't signed. What an emotional swing.
No need to worry about Bratt. Always the same with big name RFA’s.

You've got to go out and make a trade for a top 6 winger now. Holtz, next year's 1st (protected), etc should be on the table IMO

time to start pushing this forward
Timo Meier fits perfectly. Think Holtz+23 1st gets them talking. Would have to come with an extension though. Trade Ty Smith to Carolina (add if need be) for Martin Necas. I can live with a top 9 that consists of Bratt, Hughes, Hischier, Meier, Sharangovich, Necas, Mercer, Haula and either a vet or Big Z.

There is a good chance this might be it..

I do love the 1-3 year deals, to bridge the gap until our prospects are ready, BUT even with minor upgrades you might be looking at the last place Metro team..

Holtz and 2023 1st (top-2 protected) are totally on the table for me in a trade. But not for f***ing JT Miller.

You guys realize he's UFA next season right? Why would he sign a long term deal in NJ when he's only a year away from testing the market? He's walking next season, I'm not giving up shit to rent him for one year.
