The difference between us and the Islanders is that Lou is going to rush out and panic sign Kadri to a 7 x 8.5M deal tonight or some shit and destroy his franchise, while Fitz will quietly circle back to some other modest players and offer them reasonable deals.

Maybe we'll get a guy tonight or tomorrow, maybe not. But there I'm confident there won't be any panic moves.

I just stopped driving to check my phone . I thought we would have signed Gaudreau but Columbus? I was very pissed at first but who knows what happened.
Maybe Fitz got wind that Tkachuk is available and withdrew his offer ? Whatever happened it sucks but don’t want us to make a stupid move and offer Palat stupid money and term.

Honestly a pretty frustrating offseason when all is said and done. I can't blame Fitz on the Gaudreau front because I'm sure he did everything in his power to make it happen. But outside of internal development which has been taking ages, this is a critical juncture for the organization with absolutely zero momentum.

I have a feeling we're going to look back at missing out on Gaudreau in 3-5 years and appreciate it, but this just feels so stagnant at this point. Let's pray Alex Holtz pulls his head out of his ass at the NHL level.

Palat is 31 years old and is going to get paid because of what he did in big moments surrounded by Kuch, Stamkos, Hedman, Point, etc. Unless it's a 2 year deal at a palatable number (no pun intended), I just don't have the appetite for it.

Best outcome for the team. Fitz should be heavily focused on free agency next season once Luke and Nemec are called up. Target players from cap tight teams. Bring balance to the bottom six. Don't overpay for players that are past their prime. Draft a stud forward or two. Just keep sailing the steady ship and don't make moves for the sake of making moves.

you mean just punt year 11 of the rebuild and focus on year 12 & 13? This is a results oriented business. Unless you want the building to grow cobwebs and relo becomes a topic again this ship needs to get moving....and soon.
