You guys are funny man. Your like the person that gets crushed by their significant other and now you developed trust issues because you don’t want to get hurt lol.

Again i would have no problem trading for an unsigned Matt or debincat. 1 not many teams could afford their demands 2 why wouldn’t they want to sign here? If we as a franchise can’t convince a core piece to sign here long term after trading for them well then there are bigger issues and realistically this team has very limited options on taking the next step.

We have to bring legit talent to this team. No reclamation projects or failed prospects or middle 6 guys. Real talent. Can’t be scared the guy might walk esp if you haven’t given him a reason to

At best this d man is legit 3 years away from consistently helping this roster. Just a gut punch man

did you completely miss the note about how Fitz put in an offer for Tkachuk with the 2nd overall pick? I know you wanna ignore things just to fit your narrative but...

I’m talking about the people on here scared about him walking and being fine the trade didn’t work out.

Yes, but he didn't put a gun to Calgary's head to force them to give us Tkachuk, or force any other team to give up these awesome proven NHL talents that were available for the #2 pick, so he failed.

Miro Heiskanen, Zach Werenski, Ivan Provorov, Charlie McAvoy, Jakob Cychrun, etc... are all mid to high 1st round defenseman that were playing top 4 and even top pairing minutes in their D+2 season. Odds are Nemec will probably follow suit, play mainly in the AHL next season and than in 2023 be ready to step into a big role playing 20+ mins a night on the Devils.

2023 seems like the first go for it year. First year with the full core on the same team. This offseason and next needs to be focused on making sure they have the complementary players and goaltending

Personally I wanna see if we can snag Seamus Casey so we can truly be deep as can be at RHD. It's entirely possible to boot. He just needs to survive four spots
Would much rather Chesley. Suprised he didn’t go in the 1st. Not that interested in Casey in the 2nd.

But ya it would be nice to go from bare at RD to that. Our D cupboards are already stocked up but I wouldn’t have a problem adding a RD with top 4 potential in Chesley.

And one more big (small) piece

I'd take either

37 seemed like it was always going to be a really nice spot for RHD, but I do agree with others that a center may be a good idea as well

Be nice to add a good 3C internally and on the cheap assuming Mercer stays at wing. 4C too (though that could be a vet position once we move on from McLeod)

It's going to be interesting to see how the future plays out. There's going to need to be players (prospects) moved eventually.

I think Smith is getting traded for a winger. Zacha shouldn't be here this year and Tatar and Mango should be gone by next year.
if smith is being traded for a winger, it's going to be for a bottom 6er - we'd be leaving a new team with an RFA bottom pairing dman (with, in theory, some potential) - obviously he's not a main piece, but idk if he ADDS value to any package we include, would he?

Kent Hughes may not have a job in 2 years. Very risky pick that a franchise like that can’t afford
