How in the world they couldn't trade back I will never understand. And to me there isn't much of a difference between the top 2 D anyway if you were worried about getting sniped. Honestly at 2....you should prob go with Jiricek if you are hell bent on making the pick. He COULD be elite.

Nemec is a pure 2 way, passing dman. He will never be an elite top pairing guy because he doesn't have the shot, while also not being a stay at home mammoth. You don't draft offensive defensemen with limited shooting ability over what was on the board. You just don't do it. It's incompetent.

you pick the best player on your board. Not saying I would have picked NEmec, but you guys just assuming that he would have been there on a trade back or if a team even wanted to trade UP is just insane. We have literally no idea.

I mean, where were you trading? Arizona has no reason to give you a pick if they wanted Cooley, and Seattle may not have had any interest. If you want Nemec, you can't really do anything else.

Depends on Damon's term, I think. 5 years or less and it's never that costly of a right side with him Nemec on an ELC / Bridge deal. The question then becomes are you okay with the ice time distribution. If this team is trying to win this year, I also don't know how moving Severson makes any sense either.

Will be interesting to see what they do.

I'm having some trouble seeing it unless he's ok taking a slight homegrown discount and at short term. Siegenthaler if he puts another stellar campaign in is going to be in line for a major raise.

It would suck that a guy like Severson that has been here through all these lean years and wants to stay gets moved, but if there's a deal out there they should go for it. He'd fetch a good price as a rental.
