Okay so he made a no brainer phone call for a player who wasn’t even on the block. He’s been in his seat for 3 years and what has he done outside of handing out contracts to free agents besides trading spare parts for Siegenthaler and Graves?

I generally like Fitz, but he’s painfully passive. At some point you need to grow a set and make an aggressive move to improve your team.

Because the price for Campbell and Kuemper is probably going to be stupid, none of these goalies are worth giving major term to

Vanacek probably comes in on a 2-3 year deal around ~3M AAV, I would guess. Gives them a goalie signed beyond next season (Blackwood RFA, Bernier UFA) while keeping flexibility.

I guess they got a guy? The standard spare parts Fitz trade, but at least it’s something. Doesn’t spark a ton of confidence, but it’s better than a fat contract for Jack Campbell.
