Right, but if things don’t come to him in free agency he’s not very aggressive about proactively making moves to improve the situation. He refuses to part with assets that have any value to make an impact.

Wouldn’t be shocked to see us trade a spare 4th round pick for Jake Allen and roll with Blackwood/Allen next year.
This x 10000000. He's SOOOOO passive and it's starting to annoy the shit out of me.

So much talk about all the players he's always in on, and yet we never get any of these guys. You have to trade things to get things and he simply will not do it.

He tried to move 2nd overall for Chucky just last night...

With Toronto clearing out Mrazek, Campbell might not even hit FA. Then Kuemper would be the only option left....jeez.

Apparently, Toronto isn't all that keen on bringing Campbell back. I think they are going to try and maneuver for Kuemper or trade for a G. The problem is Kuemper wants $ and term to secure since it's probably his money contract.

I would only be okay if Allen replaced Blackwood and then add another real option. I will lose my mind if that’s the tandem they go with next year.
Yeah .. Jake Allen is awful. If we go Blackwood/Allen we'll be able to secure another high pick in next years draft. Maybe that's what Fitzy really wants?

Probably because he is being micro managed by our higher ups.

I thought the Hamilton, Siegenthaler, Graves moves were pretty proactive. Bernier signing was proactive. He just didn't try and aggressively fix the goaltending during the season, which was pretty dead anyway.

Okay so he made a no brainer phone call for a player who wasn’t even on the block. He’s been in his seat for 3 years and what has he done outside of handing out contracts to free agents besides trading spare parts for Siegenthaler and Graves?

I generally like Fitz, but he’s painfully passive. At some point you need to grow a set and make an aggressive move to improve your team.

Yep, an Georgiev per Kaplan an we were in on Cat per Bobby Mac. Shit just doesn't work out sometimes

Usually it doesn’t work out because you’re clutching on to your assets for dear life and afraid to give up enough to get. Every other team makes shit work out. He could have made the move Yzerman just did for Husso’s rights.

Maybe, but I dont necessarily believe that entirely. I'm a Sixers fan, too, so unfortunately I get a double dose of their awkward asses, but I do think that they are willing to pay when they think they can win. They did with the Sixers. Maybe they will treat the Devils differently, but I will wait a year or two to make that judgment since I dont think we were ready to compete anyway.

I think as a GM it's easy to stand pat, load up the farm with high picks because you suck, lose with other people's players, and keep your job because you can go "look at all these picks I made."

It's almost identical to what Hextall did with the Flyers and every year they watched their top rated prospect pool plummet down the rankings. I hope that doesn't happen here.

Except Campbell sucks and is going to be massively overpaid. The Devils are in a legitimate hole here.

talbot wouldn't be a terrible trade option if they end up going that route. could be decent for a few more years maybe
