I'd say.. if we took him earlier than Edmonton's pick I would be mad. If we took him with Edmonton's pick I'd be meh about it, after that, it's a fine selection.
I think that‘s a fair assessment, but with what he’s doing right now in terms of record-breaking (let’s see what he does with the 106 pts Drouin record for a 17 years old) and what we hear around the rinks, not sure he will be around at 54 with the Edmonton pick. And with Arizona having 7 picks in top two rounds, they have all the picks they need to take a risk, lol, who cares if one of the 7 picks is not the right one. Quebec coach too.

I would love Dumais with the Habs, but yes we are and we will continue to be small, not sure its the best fit, but who knows how the team will shape up in 3-4 years.

I think Dumais would fit really well with Tampa Bay, Boston, NYR, Toronto, Nashvill who do not need size, love skilled players and they would give him time to mature physically.

There is nothing wrong with that comparison (Slaf-Jagr). Nobody never said that Slaf is going to be as good as him. Nobody is next Jagr. People also compared Dahlin to Lidsrom, Eichel to Mario etc. Its sounds little bit "too much" but its STYLISTICALLY. And Slaf really plays like Jagr. He's basically a big guy with soft hands and deft touch who also likes to play along the boards.
First guy who said this was Oto Hascak (NY Rangers scout), after that Czech commentators when Slaf played against Czech Republic last year and Jagr himself said: "I watch this kid last year and asked myself, Who is this player? He plays like me when I was younger, I want him in my team. But then I realized he's only 17 so I have no chance to get him".

Similar flair maybe not the ultimate offensive upside of those guys but you're getting a way more complete player.
To be honest, I'm always so wary of guys like Johnson and Zegras. Although Zegras has proven he can produce in the NHL, Johnson makes too many flashy moves and I didn't like his performance at the WJC. I think Cooley has a more translatable game.

Hughes, as good as he was this year, still so soft and weak. And Zegras too. Cooley seems more sturdy IMO.

I would be pretty happy with Cooley. Only question is, who do we pick between him and Slaf at #2?

Cooley for me without a doubt. You build straight down the middle.

I think Cooley could be the Zegras of this draft. Little smaller, little faster, maybe not quite as skilled but with more of a willingness to take a hit and engage physically.

Would have liked to see Cooley play in the OHL with the Knights or something. Feels like he's a Knight to me hahaha

Can't wait to 10th May to see at Habs will draft. It's 99,99% chance to pick 1, 2, 3 or 4 (not official... but Habs need 1 loser point or Seattle with 1 point to finish bottom 2 and guaranted to pick betwen, 1, 2, 3 or 4).

Picking top 4 this year is very huge. It's guaranted to select a player between these: 1-Wright, 2-Cooley, 3-Slafkovsky, 4-Nemec (Savoie, Nazar, Jiricek can easily be at this conversation).

If I had to guess at the Coyotes list, I think their top four are Wright/Slafkovsky and then Jiricek/Nemec. Bill Armstrong does not have a track record of taking short players high in the draft.

Last year they took nobody under 6’1, I believe (in any round, if I’m not mistaken) and I don’t believe he’s ever drafted anyone directly out of the NTDP (at least not early).

When the Coyotes acquired and then ultimately signed 6’4 Jack McBain and 6’2 Nathan Smith, Armstrong made much of their size and how it fits the identity they’re trying to build.

When Armstrong re-signed Liam O’Brien, he talked much about how he fits the big, physical style they’re hoping to bring to their “new 5,000 seat arena”.

All of that is to say that Armstrong clearly has a vision of a a very large, very physical team occupying that very tiny arena. As they’re rebuilding, I expect the Coyotes to be a bigger, tougher team. And I expect their pipeline to reflect some of those elements.

Point being, if AZ ends up picking ahead of y’all, I think you can bet on the Yotes skipping Cooley and Savoie. I really can’t envision Armstrong using the defining pick of his rebuild to date on a 5’10 forward.

Cooley is ours. Muy bueno.

Yeah, agree with that. Cooley is very fun player to watch, that would be amazing to grab a player like that. Forward group is going to be fun to watch with him, Suzuki and Caufield. (Maybe more with Roy, Farrell, Kidney, Heineman one day).

Fair. I'd say both are projects. What is Cooley's potential you think? Production wise in his prime.

I think you can look at what Sebastien Aho is doing in Carolina. That's my closest comparable.

Nice silky skating and moves from Östlund.

I feel like he's underrated since his wingers have more production (and Lekkerimakki has an elite tool) but he's always read to me kind of like a lesser version of what happened with Aho in the WJC. He was the guy stirring the drink for Laine & Puljujarvi, not getting the recognition but ended up being clearly the best player of the 3.

Is Matt Barzal a good comparable for Logan Cooley?

In some respects but ultimately no, Cooley has more desire to get into the middle of the ice and can shoot way better than Barzal. While Cooley is a great skater, there's a clear separation with Barzal who's one of the smoothest guys out there.

Simon Nemec have huge value, looks Brandt Clarke (big fan of him) stats in Slovak league at 17 years old: 15 points in 26 games, 0,57 pts per game and Nemec 26 points in 39 games it's 0,66 pts per game.

I know Clarke is better in defense zone, but Nemec looks very very promising.

Pretty garbage 1st period for Sweden, just really bad hockey.
Not impressed with Ohgren particulary. Lekkerimaki looks good on the PP, so much at even strength. Bystedt has limited skills/vision. I like Ostlund speed, pretty shifty out there.

The recrutes have Ohgren at 3 and Lekkerimaki at 4, they are quite beside the track.

Will be interesting to see how Cooley compares to Bedard in this game.
