He is even more purely talended than Seider, thats how good he is.

Ive had this guy ranked #1 since early november. Now Im ambivalent between him and Slafkovsky, top 2 is a no brainer for me, you cant go wrong with either, they are absolute elite material.

Wright shut down again tonight for a 2nd straight game and almost gave Ottawa the win on a silver plate in OT. I dont know how much the broken foot he suffered is affecting his game, but I dont recall the last time he beat a goaltender cleanly, his shoting attemps are predictable and either get stopped or blocked by defenders. There is alot of inconsistency in his play, he had a good stretch lately, but then, 2 underwhelming showings in a row...

That inconsistency and lack of dominance at junior level just cant make me rank him on the same level as the clear cut top 2 and probably not even over Kemell or Nemec either.

Jiricek is a better player than Seider was at this time in 2019, that's pretty clear. But Seider is also 10x the player he was on draft day.

Wright is still my number 1 pick

After that im torn between Nemec and Slafkovsky

We could use all of the three

Wright
Nemec
Slafkovsky
Or
Cooley/Savoie

But i rather the top 3

But thats if they consider at least another year of rebuilding

Else just draft Wright /Cooley/Savoie

Seider is obviously a 3rd leg type of guy. Bowtie to the draft squashed any doubts. So the question is simply whether Jiricek is also a big game hunter.

edit: why is Tiger's face so...big? This is overwhelming. I'm not sure people are ready to face this reality

The WHL is the most recent entrant to the participation/bureaucrat games, as Spokane (24-39) clinched the 6 seed tonight. The 5 seed, Kelowna, is 42-20 on the year....

Their GM told me, verbatim, there is no way this club should be in the playoffs this year. 'Why do you think we sold Finley?'

If you gang find a way to bet these series without Tucker Tynan, let me know. All of Prince George, Spokane, Prince Albert, and Vancouver are going to get pumped in the 1st round.

Hughes and Gorton are gonna have some fun this year

Looking at the early bird mock, Okay fine guys we can use the 3rds and 4ths to trade up this time.

...just this time though.

We've got 2 2nds, 3 3rds (two of them early), and 3 4ths. No sense trying to trade up with our 2nd, as there will for sure be a good player available. We could move up the Edmonton pick with a 3rd, and then use our other 3rds to move into the end of the 2nd. Or we could pick up a couple extra late 2nds using 3rds and 4ths.

Alternatively we could just bias our picks to Europeans and Americans since we hold their rights for longer, giving us more time to sort out the (hopeful) log jam of prospects.

They should focus there anyways. Outside of the first two rounds, the CHL is ass.

Your posts make me think that not winning the lottery would be the best option, let another team make that difficult decision
No tough decision with the 1st pick OA, you take Wright and you have your #1 C for the next 20 yrs. We absolutely need to win the lottery, it would be a difference maker for the futur of the Canadiens

Cutter Gauthier I am hoping for. In history of USDT only 2 players have scored GAG pace. Cole Caufield and Jack Hughes. Austin Matthews and Jack Eichel were close, each had 20 goals in 24 games. Cutter has 19 goals in 22 games. He's in good company

My top-5 and draft order based on where we land:

Wright
Cooley
Jiricek
Slafkovsky
Nemec

No surprises with Wright, he’s going #1. I think Cooley has the best set of tools offensively and not only will be BPA at #2, but he’s something we desperately need in our top-6.

Jiricek I think has more offensive upside than Nemec and if properly developed, he has top-pairing potential with offence and vision we desparaply need in the backend.

Slafkovsky I am a little torn about putting ahead of Nemec but I think if we pick him, he has the potential to be a complete beast on the wings. That said, he’s a project.

Nemec is great and would be happy picking him outside the top-3. Could easily pick him over Slaf at #4 also.

Going to get a nice one... It will be interesting to see how this changes after the U18's if at all...

Is there any way we can get 5 top 50 picks this year? We could definitely trade up with Edmonton's 2nd into the 40's. But then how far can we get with the remaining 3rds and 4ths?

EDM 2nd + our 3rd gets us how far, vs EDM 2nd + CAR 3rd. The ducks 3rd is somewhere in between obvs.

I dont understand your point. If I understand you correctly, in the span of 3 months, Seider went from being inferior to Jiricek to being x10 the player he is about 90 days later?

I think he meant that Seider now is 10x the player Seider was on draft day.

Let’s hope that jiricek can have that type of progression!

No, I mean that Seider has developed amazingly well, which is not a guarantee for any prospect. The Seider of today is 10x the player he was on draft day.
He developed well for sure, but the physical aspect of his game as well as his mastering defensive play were elite level already. Where he made huge strides is mostly offensively, his offensive tools were more raw.

I dont know much about the draft but it seems like Nemec is a player that is seen very differently by different people. Some people have him at #2 while others have him at #5 or lower.
As far as potential ceilings go goes, do Cooley, Slaf, Nemec and Jiricek have #1 potential in their respective positions? Or are some projected to have 2nd line potential?

If we draft 2 or 3 probably could trade down to 4 or 5 get an extra pick around 30
