Could be a real nice fit here.
His skating looks laboured and awkward. Does that take align with his scouting profile?

Not really, his skating is viewed as very good, a reason his 2 way game is so goodHis skating looks laboured and awkward. Does that take align with his scouting profile?
Skating is good to very good. His skating looks laboured and awkward. Does that take align with his scouting profile?
Last season, he made his debut in the Swedish Hockey League with Rögle BK at just 16 years old, and although he only managed to put up one assist, he didn’t look out of place amongst some of the best hockey players in the world thanks to his skating prowess.
Kasper is a very good skater. His ability to play the game at pace in both directions helps him to play a 200-foot game. He has very good speed and acceleration in both directions. Kasper also has very good agility and edgework.
"He doesn’t shy away from trying to beat or out-wait guys (whether through changes of directions out of stop-ups or curls) and he’s got a really low panic threshold. He’s also a good skater who never lacks in effort and always stops on pucks."
Kasper is a centre who relies on fantastic skating and his hockey sense, using both attributes to drive play and create chances. He benefits from his size to handle pressure from opponents, be it along the boards or in open ice. He protects the puck with his reach and stays upright due to his skating and balance. If this doesn’t work, he uses his vision and awareness to find open players, attacking with speed to break into the zone or set up chances.
His excellent skating skill comes down to his technique. Inside and outside edge-work lends itself to quick pivoting and maintaining speed throughout the turn. The one weakness he has in his skating is that he needs to accelerate out of the turn better to keep the opponent away. The agility that he shows makes him difficult to get a grip on, so he can create something out of nothing.
Kasper is a dynamic and powerful skater whose speed is an integral part of his game. His lower-body strength is on display as he accelerates from a standstill position. His ability to separate himself from opponents using his jets during the first strides is first-round worthy.
Kasper´s power generates high top end speed. He maintains his pace well after accelerating, even while navigating through tight traffic. To keep his speed, he uses his agile footwork and crossovers where he cannot extend his strides. His balance is also strong. He manages to move quickly without being pushed around during physical hassles.
Kasper is agile in tight spaces, which helps him when tracking a stick-handling opponent. His skating is versatile, which allows him to maintain speed throughout pivots and direction shifts. As a result of this Kasper never seems surprised or flat-footed when covering opponents during the cycle.
I mean, that street goes both waysAnyone see Hustle?
I feel like Adam Sandler, telling you to draft Frank Nazar and some of you are the stubborn owners kid that just watched the highlight real of Kasper and are sold on him.
I called Seider being the best pick of the draft when he was expected to go 13th. I am telling you now, Nazar is going to be a superstar.
We cant BOTH be Adam Sandler.I mean, that street goes both ways
Big difference in projecting Seider and projecting Nazar though. Lots of options in that 7-20 range that an argument could be made for. I am sure Ohgren supporters could say the exact same thing... also Lekk, Kemell, Yurov, Savoie D like Korchinski, MintyAnyone see Hustle?

Have you seen his wife? I am okay with that. You can be Rob Schneider
Kasper would be a good pick at 7th OA, he could even go sooner, but so would a number of other prospects be good picks including Nazar/Lekkerimaki. I'm still holding out hope that one of the teams ahead of us goes off the board a little with one of those small forwards & that one of the top six falls to us.2 round MockDueling two-round mock draft: Corey Pronman and an NHL source predict the 2022 NHL Draft
The Athletic's Corey Pronman and an anonymous NHL hockey ops source predict what they think will happen at the 2022 NHL Draft.theathletic.com
7. Kasper (picked by NHL source)
39. Salomonsson (picked by Pronman)
64. McConnell-Barker (picked by NHL source) (DJ will call him Barker)
They are also in a pretty good situation if they trade back or trade the pick for a player and get a 2022 1st back as part of the deal. There will be good players available in that range.Ottawa is in a good position if they end up using their pick. Everyone from 7-26 is in the same range of player in my opinion.
There is good depth in this years draft class and i’m confident Ottawa will get a good player.
Which is why I hope Montreal picks Wright.I get the appeal of Wright on paper but he's been so underwhelming in all my viewings.
Would take Slafkovsky and Cooley over him. Just like their offensive upside more.
The "issue" is that if we make a selection, whoever we draft will likely take at least 3 to 5 years to get to the NHL.Ottawa is in a good position if they end up using their pick. Everyone from 7-26 is in the same range of player in my opinion.

At 7 OA I suspect it is 3 years max, not 5.The "issue" is that if we make a selection, whoever we draft will likely take at least 3 to 5 years to get to the NHL.
We need to get better now.

I dunno, I know Wright hasn't been amazing this year but given his 16 year old season I'm worried he could explode into an elite player in a couple of years. We can't say how much missing a whole season due to Covid effected him.Which is why I hope Montreal picks Wright.
Didnt love what I saw from the player in the viewings I saw, skating a mile a minute with not a very great looking stride. His skating looks laboured and awkward. Does that take align with his scouting profile?
Trading the pick would be a ridiculously bad decision. Have you looked at the UFA class? Its a flat cap with most of the teams pressed against the top. There are going to be alot of players available. This team finished 30 points out of a playoff spot you dont trade top 10 picks when you are that far out. When they are ready to contend whoever they draft will absolutely be contributing on an ELC none the less. The "issue" is that if we make a selection, whoever we draft will likely take at least 3 to 5 years to get to the NHL.

McGroarty ranked 11th overall. It looks like they are high on him just like I am. Any interesting comments on him from the BlackBook?HockeyProspect.com released their top 32: https://hockeyprospect.com/2022-nhl-draft-rankings/
Bought their BlackBook as I do every year. Fantastic read. Highly recommend it.
