If Jiricek or Nemec fall to us an we don't take em, I'll be...not shocked at all considering last year lol

But seriously, those two are perfect for our organization and let us move some of our defensive prospects who might not have as high of a ceiling for some immediate help

My updated wishlist based off of Sens needs/drafting patterns (I am assuming Slafkovsky and Wright are gone):

1. David Jiricek
2. Simon Nemec
3. Cutter Gauthier
4. Trade the pick

I'm a bit higher on Gauthier than I was a month ago, tho I still think a more puck possession-y type of forward might be a better fit for Jimmy's wing, especially since we also have Greig coming up as a physical guy.

7th - One of Kasper/Lekk/Korchinski/Mintyukov barring a guy sliding

39th - Any guys dropping from consensus ranking in the 20-30 slots, usually 2/3 available at 39th. Michael Fisher would be a shrewd pick otherwise.

~61st - Cameron Lund or Ryan Greene, whichever Gambler is remaining.

Whoops my bad, I saw the link from a page I follow on instagram
McKenzie did a lottery night straw poll so that can give us some insight into how his rankings will look...

1. Shane Wright [6 out of 9 first place votes]
2. Juraj Slafkovsky [2 out of 9 first place votes]
3. Logan Cooley [1 out of 9 first place votes]
4. Simon Nemec [4 out of 9 scouts had him top 3]
5. Joakim Kemell
6. David Jiricek [3 top-5 votes]
7. Matt Savoie [2 top-5 votes]

My list I presume all better players are gone:

1. David Jiricek
2. Joakim Kemell
3. Cutter Gauthier
4. Мatthew Savoie
5. Jonathan Lekkerimaki

Would love Jiricek to fall to 7 . I'd take him over Nemec and Kemell and ...

I hope so, although my first choice would be Jiricek RD if he falls to us & Gauthier second.
Agree with Jiricek. I don't mind Gauthier I had mentioned him after the US prospects game. He stood out to me. Not as dynamic as some but a decent package. He'd be in the mix for me. I like Lekkerimaki and I like Ohgren as well.

I hope so, I also expect that Korchinski could sneak into the top 6.
I am not as sold on Korchinski. I think Mintyukov has better chance to jump up.
I like Lekkerimaki if both Jiricek & Gauthier are gone, he would be a decent sniper for them at RW, but I also like Geekie as another big centre who could help them at playoff time.
I would not take Geekie at 7 .. He has good tools and good size and definitely projects to be an NHL player though. I like to see more pace

Anything is possible & we have seen it before, not every team will have the same rankings. I'm optimistic it will happen but if it doesn't there are other decent choices.
I think its a reasonable expectation for Gauthier to be available at 7. If the top 5 include Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley, Nemec and Jiricek ; Columbus just has to like someone more.

Talk about doing their due diligents. Hopefully they have a great draft, we could use one. If they draft a forward with their first, IMO they go after Luneau & Warren with their next 2/3 picks.
I don't think Luneau lasts to 39 but he might. I think the Sens will have a hard time passing on Lamoreux and Warren even if they are ranked lower by many. Maybe someone they have ranked higher falls. They probably like Bischel as well. Ryan Chesley would be a good pick if he's there as would David Goyette imo.

To my knowledge the last time they drafted someone under 6 feet in the first round was Eaves in 2003, last time we drafted someone 6 feet even in the first round was Lazar in 2013 I believe, So I wouldn't be too optimistic about us drafting guys like Kemmel, Savoie and Nazar. We clearly value size in our higher picks, like it or not.

Grieg was 5’11 at the draft in 2020

EK was 5’11 in 08’

Thomson was 6’0 on the dot in 19’

JBD 6’0 in 2018

White was 6’0 in 15’

Noesen was 6’0 in 11’

Sens traded their pick away in the 2010 draft in part because 5’10 Schwartz got picked by the Blues, he and Forbert were the only guys the Sens wanted.

Q&A on the 2022 Draft with some bonus Tyler Boucher content; always fun to look back to last year's draft and get excited about this one.

If Wright, Cooley, Slafkovsky, Jiricek, and Nemec are all gone, then I really hope we end up with one of Yurov or Lekkerimaki. I really like the way they see the ice.

If they use the 7th to pick Kasper, I am going to be very disappointed.
Trade back to get him if you need to.
He's not getting out of the top 10, why would you trade back for a guy that's expected to go around where you're picking?

If you're going to trade back, it would be fro the group of guys expected to go around ~15 like Nazar, Pickering, Snuggard, etc. Kasper is in a group above these guys expected to go from 6-10

Other than Johansson and Ostapchuk, I prefer not to look back on last years draft.
If you get two players you like out of a draft that’s a pretty good draft.

Nazar getting more and more mentions. I think he goes before ten. Seems to be picking up steam

How tall is JBD? he looks tiny. According to the internet he is 6'0. Which is surprising.
