huh? there's a clear pattern of passing on upside for safe projectability.
It was already pointed out to you , Stutzle and Sanderson, hence the blanket statement argument failure is applicable.
I suppose you wanted Zadina as well then.
Along with numerous others, forget about Karlsson already.

I think maybe the Sens just have a different view of upside than you do. It’s nearly impossible to trade for a top 4 shutdown RD with good size and skating ability. Does Ben Roger become that? Who knows, but it doesn’t mean if he doesn’t the Sens are passing on upside - it means he didn’t become what they hoped. They didn’t pick him hoping he’d be their 7th D, much like they didn’t pick Boucher to be a 4th line grinder. It’s also harder to find a 3C like Pageau than it is to find a top 6 winger like Mike Hoffman, so again perhaps when they took White they hoped he’d be more than he is.

Maybe the Sens are just realistic about the fact that a superstar isn’t available at every pick and are actively trying to fill out their roster with all kinds of players.

Here is the list of players taking part in the combine.

I am very interested to see who improves their stock because of the combination. It doesn't hold as much weight as it does in say, the NFL but we have seen guys in recent years improve their stock - most notably Josh Norris and Liam Foudy.

and as pointed out those were 3 and 5 picks in one of the deepest drafts ever and they still went for the players who were the most projectable/physically dominant.

I actually wanted Stutzle and Sanderson and was making posts arguing that they might be worthy #1 picks themselves. So I loved that we got them. These types of players are unicorns and only available at the very top of the draft.

No not, Zadina but Hughes and Dobson.

Jordan Dumais is getting such a raw deal this draft.. Guy puts up 39 goals and 109 points in the Q at 17 and doesn't even get a combine invite? Brutall
Teams aren’t going to value diminutive players with skating issues. They don’t translate in the NHL

Someone will grab him late 2nd and hold out hope for years.

From the footage I've seen, I'm pretty skeptical his game translates to the NHL. He has good vision and IQ but he is undersized, is an average skater and I'm concerned about whether his shot and passes will be quick enough at the NHL level. Maybe him not being invited to the combine influenced my assessment, but from watching some footage on him,. it seems pretty clear to me why teams aren't that high on him.

Nemec or Jiricek would be fantastic in Ottawa. We should consider moving an asset to try to pick one of them.

Marco Kasper has a little bit of that Mika Zibanejad feel. Super raw, explosive athlete that attacks the middle. Powerful skater, covers a ton of ice. Has the potential to be a high-end puck transporter in the NHL.

Maybe 7 is a little high for him, but if the disaster scenario plays out [Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley, Nemec, Jiricek, Gauthier are the first 6 picks] then I probably wouldn't hate to hear his name.

That is one of the comps that makes sense imo.

Or Kemell, Savoie or Geekie

That would be a big disappointment for me - I wouldn't take Savoie or Geekie in the top 10. Not even sure I'd draft Geekie top 15.

Kasper over all those guys. Korchinski too. Maybe even Lekkerimaki, but it's close between him and Kemell.

I don't think Kasper is anywhere near as raw as Zibanejad. Nor are his tools anywhere close to as good.

He's definitely a riser though and it wouldn't surprise me if he's ranked top 10 on a lot of lists.

Sounds like Garland in jr. I saw him play Gatineau a few times and I was sure he was never going to play in the league. Boy was I wrong. Sens dont have alot of skill types like this in the system. Maybe take him with Tampas second rounder? Its going to be in the 60 range.

Isn't Garland gritty and doesn't he have some agitating qualities? I'm not sure Dumais has those qualities.

From what I've seen, I do not see an argument for drafting Dumais in the top 60. I think people are getting a bit enamored with his point production and are not sufficiently scrutinizing his tools. The fact that he wasn't invited to the top prospect game or the combine gives me the impression that many NHL teams are seeing similar problems with his tools like I see. Maybe there is some other footage of him that would give me a different impression but I have serious doubts about what he will become.
