Keller or Fiala for the 7th

These are trades that Ottawa should do in an instant since they are already impact players

keller would fit like a glove with this core on a sweet contract

Can already tell this draft os going to annoy me and we'll end up with Gauthier
Gauthier seems like a pretty good option. It certainly makes a lot of sense to try to trade the pick for an established top six forward though. But if there isn't a good trade available and we decide to use the pick then Gauthier would be a solid prospect to add to our prospect pool,

Would at least be a pick that makes sense unlike last years, but there would be 5+ish guys I'd personally have at 7 before Gauthier

I'd be surprised if we ended up with anyone else to be honest.

Overwhelming focus of the Sens staff under Mann has been on tools (size and skating), physicality and draft year progression.

Gauthier is 6'2-6'3, skates extremely well, throws his body around a fair bit, and is considered a riser.

Checks so many boxes of what Mann looks for in a prospect. I don't see anyone else ranked in the vicinity of 7th that compares.

As crazy as it sounds I think there's a chance Gauthier goes in the 3-6 range.

Teams will look at his size and speed combination and his history of playing center and will convince themselves he's another PLD in the making.

there's a lot of wisdom in taking the most projectable players

but boy is it boring.

Lets hope Jiricek falls to 7.

Otherwise I'd go Lekkerimaki or Gauthier

It will be interesting if Dorion confines Mann with another type/profile/identity pick again.

what if it was Mann who pushed for the pick? I don't think he was being confined especially from Dorion.

Well, I for one will be thrilled if he does, gives us a better shot at one of the D.

I don't think Nemec or Jiricek fall past Columbus at 6, but who knows.

He had a strong U18s which really helped stabilize his stock.

I disagree.

Showed off his good shot but I already knew he could fire it. Didn't see enough else in his game to justify a top 5 or even top 10 pick.

Hope for Jiricek RD or Nemec RD, but would be happy with Gauthier LW, he fills a niche on the 2nd line with Stutzle. Would also be fine with Yurov C/RW, Lekkerimaki RW, Geekie C, Snuggerud RW or Nazar RW. They all could fill a 2nd line role.

Idk, Mann seemed really defensive about the pick, I don't think he was the one pushed into taking Boucher, I think he was the one pushing.
I don't think so because it was so much a "fits a profile" pick. I do not think Mann would select Boucher as a straight up BPA . He fit a profile that he was looking for and why he was looking for that is because the guy that is actually building / reconstructing the team directed it.
Mann is not going to not defend the pick or throw his petty boss under the bus

Mann is not building the team .. Dorion is. Boucher fit a profile .. the person building the team was after. Boucher fit that profile.. He was far from the most prolific player available.

How can you fit a profile, if you can not make playoffs, because you do not have enough skills in your lineup. You get those players like Tampa did. Not through a 10th overall pick to stock your future fourth or may be a third line. It is irresponsible!

I'm really not worried about another Boucher pick this year.

I do think they might go out of their way to get a big forward, but this year Gauthier and Geekie are really good prospects. Gauthier is a center, he can hit, he skates really well. Great shot. He basically does everything Boucher does much better except for the hitting. I don't think you can go wrong with him. Bigger too - unless they've changed their team building priorities he should be the pick.

And Sens fans should be excited for him. I think he could be a PLD type center, quite possibly having a better career than Kemell or Savoie.

If Savoie falls does Ottawa pick him or do they stick with the bigger is better mantra?
I don't like Geekie I see Logan Brown 2.0. I actually think Brown was/is a better skater.
I'm in for trading the pick instead of screwing it up but PD's trade record is decidedly average

Of course we'll make the same mistake as last year. Savoie is the obvious pick if he's still available

The only thing that would make Gauthier more a Sens selection than he already is, is if he was going to North Dakota.
yep, big amercian and his dad played and he likes hitting. Never was outstanding offensively. Checks all the boxes except for the ND one.
