NHL Entry Draft 2022 NHL Draft Thread - Part 2

I don't think that's a great comp for Savoie, but the question of whether we'd take a smaller forward is a big one. Dorion was part of the Karlsson pick, but we've never seen Trent Mann go for a small, skilled guy in the early rounds.
Well they had Stu ahead of Byfield.

What do you mean? I was told there was no real difference between the 3rd and the 7th so how could there possibly be five obvious guys in the top-5?
I am coming around to your line of thinking. We should try and go 0-82 next year for Bedard since we aren’t going to make the playoffs.

They would have to use at least one of their 2nd rders to move up or maybe a very good prospect (Greig) or player like Brann could get them a spot or two higher.
I would do the first and second rounder but not Greig to move up to a top 3 pick. Brannstrom would be OK to include if we get a top 3 pick from such a trade.

I agree thats the biggest need, but I dont think the sens are gunna be able to draft a guy that can step into the league next season or even the season after that.

Time is now for dorion to trade some serious futures to get that winger for stutzle.

Draft the best player available regardless of position I think.

We need a top 6 forward and a top 4 defenseman. As long as we get one of them with our first round pick I will be happy, but I fear another reach coming.

I'm still thrilled that despite winning a bunch of games to finish the year that we're set to pick 7th.

Thought for sure Detroit and Buffalo would lose and we'd end up picking 9th.

If we had lost the last game against the Leats last season we'd probably be sitting pretty with Ottawa boy Brandt Clarke as the finishing piece to our D :(

Not dropping further in the standings is a huge win and should lessen the chance of another crazy off-the-board selection.
Until Buffalo and Detroit win the lotto.

If we fall down to eight or nine, or anywhere out of that top group of seven, we need to do everything in our power to move back in there.

Obviously the teams within the top seven will see that too and be hesitant to move out of it, but we have the benefit of being fully stocked and able to turn quality and quantity into more quality.

Was really hoping for Nemec but I’m okay with settling for Jiricek. And for all we know Sens probably have them higher.

Either way, I really don’t want to draft one spot away from the clear cut off of prospects again.

So...if the worst case scenario happens and we end up 9th, how would people feel about trading the pick (and another two good pieces) for a legit 1RD or 1RW? Preferrably a guy who is under 25 or so.

There will be no settling for Jiricek, he’s not making it to 7.

Would be a good time to try and trade into the top 5, if any teams value a guy higher than he’s expected. I know trade downs rarely, rarely happen that high in the draft, but would be huge for the Sens to get one of the 2 D or 3 top end forwards.

Getting one of the top 5 should be a huge push for the Sens.

Wow picking at #1 is tough.

I could see any of Slaf, Nemec, Jiri, Cooley, Wright being the best. All very projectable and close to being NHL ready as well.
That's why it's unfortunate that they moved up and out of the range of the top five overall picks by winning those late season games.

Or, sign a free agent, with added benefit of not having to ship out assets that you need to do in a trade. New owner couldn't happen fast enough, assuming the new owner has deeper pockets.

Seattle needs everything to be honest, they could go anywhere.

They took a Center last year … I cant see them taking another with the group of C’s they have … who knows… maybe if they win the draft they take a Center but I’d be shocked to see them take a F at 3-4 if 2+ of the top F’s are gone and their future 1RD is sitting there.

I really don’t see the 2ND D making it to 7.

Kemell battling out front with a nice tip in

Kemell bangs in a rebound for his 2nd

Nice play by Kemell winning the battle and making the play into the slot

I hope the Sens get picked in the lottery for the 2nd pick. I think Shane Wright will be a good NHLer, but disappointing, as he'll never be a big scorer. I'd rather get one of the players ranked 2-4.

My dream is May 10th, we win either the 1st or 2nd pick and Tampa eliminates the leafs in a game 5 blowout with Marner and Matthews jerseys raining down on the ice. Oh to dream.

100% we had Stu ahead of Byfield.

Our top 5 order was;

Laf
Stu
Byfield
Sanderson
Raymond.

@bert can confirm and he had this info but we think Quinn was possibly #6 as he was well connected to us

I remember when McKenzie's list came out, 2 of his 10 scouts had Stützle and Sanderson at 2 and 3. Thought for sure one of them was an Ottawa scout.
