Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 3-2 In Shootout

Good news is we’re tied with Florida with a game in hand still. Bad news is our schedule doesn’t get any easier or less congested. And with Tkachuk LTIR’d until the playoffs the there’s still the chance that Florida adds even more at the TDL.

Big difference winning the division and finishing 2nd or 3rd this season

Leafs have the opportunity to choose their fate but they have to bear down for this tough stretch run

we are really missing Tanev. Myers and Timmins are not NHL contender players sorry, another NHL defenseman is desperately needed.
A few too many people were critical of Brads pick up of Tanev.

I imagine most of those people realize just how important he is to this team. A critical piece for which if he goes down the defense is far less competent. I recall when the Habs beat the Leafs in their series that they stated once Muzzin was injured they knew they were going to win.

Leafs D is a little tougher to play against now than it was then but it can never be too tough or imposing in size for any serious contender.

The standings say the leafs have been playing well lately.

The games, however, tell a different story.

Pretty concerning going into the home stretch of the season here. Hopefully they can figure it out by the playoffs.

We will need them at their best if we hope to get our customary 3 wins again this postseason.

Hi, Sharks fan here from a couple of other forums.

I appreciate the props to the Sharks and it was a fun one to watch on our side. You guys are top of the heap and the Sharks were desperate for a win.

I saw some comments about wanting Ferraro or Walman. FWIW, both guys are absolutely on the table. Toffoli isnt; he signed for 4 years and the intention is to keep him around.

While Ferraro isn’t an amazing defender and Sharks fans are pretty hard on him, he deserves to get traded to a playoff contender and I think would play lights out if that happened. His entire career has been mostly losses.

They got Walman for peanuts so Mike Grier I’m sure would take a great offer for him.

Anyway, cheers, good luck!

We are always at a disadvantage at home because so many players from the other team are from the area. They are playing to make thier family and friends in the stands proud
All the other Canadian teams have to deal with the same thing and every single one of them has either won a cup or at least been to the final in the last 40 years, guess which team hasn't?

It's a long season, these games happen

We've piled on the points since the 4 nations so it's easy to forgive the boys for having a bit of a stinker
The right guys were getting plenty of shots and on a lot of nights those go in at a pretty good clip

Deserved to lose but the sky isn't falling, we just need to come back better and refreshed after our few days off

This team has shown for years and years that 5 games is literally their peak. That's all they can ever do. Even the shittiest teams in the league can string together a 7-8 game streak once per year. Their inability to keep their foot on the gas will cost them the division (again).

All I am hearing are excuses.

They're facts.

The Leafs were playing their 3rd game in 4 nights on a travelling back to back... and got 5/6 points and are now flying to Vegas to play again.

They got the most back to back's in the NHL this year, it's a rough schdule and this month is the worst. April is better in terms of rest. It doesn't help that our 3 most important players were all playing in the 4 nations while other teams were resting for 2 weeks as only 4 countries were included.

Pretty funny how fast Ottawa are so behind us again. Wasn’t long ago they were a couple points behind.

Other than blowing a two goal lead and losing to the worst team in the league I thought they played well.

Liljegren had a good game. That's about the second one he's ever had. Him being a top four defenseman on San Jose tells us all how bad that team is.

Of course the Leafs lost.

Wouldn't surprise me if they keep losing too. The annual post All-Star game skid. Just when you think they've got it in the bag they drop seven of ten.

SInce there was no All-Star game this year I'm really hoping that doesn't happen.

The Leafs looked good tonight in a losing effort of what should've been an easy win. Like me in a tuxedo at a singles bar. Dress up a loser all you want it still doesn't hide the fact he's a loser.

Oh well you can't win them all I guess.
