My guess is that Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley, Nemec and Jiricek are all gone by 7. If that's the case, and we keep the pick, it'll be very interesting to see where Mann goes. A lot of intriguing forwards, many of whom are not typical Sens picks (e.g. Savoie, Kemell, Nazar).

We just need Columbus & NJ who is in front of us to go off the board a little & pick someone else other than who you have as the top 6. It's not impossible if that is where we still end up after the lottery & it won't surprise me if we end up with Jiricek RD. Their next three picks could be important too to fill the depth chart.

I think the biggest need is a winger for Stutzle. If we get that we have two legit all around 1st lines.

But yea man Nemec is ridiculous. Like if he ends up a Makar or Heiskanen or Fox level you are looking pretty stupid for passing on him.

Don't know if Nemec has the same kind of upside as those guys, but he's about as safe as a bet as there is to end up a top 4 D.

I'd prefer gambling on Slafkovsky's upside at #2. Higher potential IMO and would be a perfect winger for Stutzle.
 
I'm still thrilled that despite winning a bunch of games to finish the year that we're set to pick 7th.

Thought for sure Detroit and Buffalo would lose and we'd end up picking 9th.

If we had lost the last game against the Leats last season we'd probably be sitting pretty with Ottawa boy Brandt Clarke as the finishing piece to our D :(

Not dropping further in the standings is a huge win and should lessen the chance of another crazy off-the-board selection.

Stutzle while great offensively has proven he still needs lots of work defensively & doesn't always make good choices. Yes, Norris has a great shot, but he also comes back defensively & breaks up a lot of plays below the circles defensively. He also has great chemistry with Tkachuk & Batherson & I would not break them up at all. He's also good at faceoffs & much better than Stutzle who could use someone who is very good at faceoffs on his line, like Giroux. The people that love Stutzle are quite willing to break up the best line on the team to help Stutzle rather than finding him his own line mates who have capatibility with him which is difficult given the way he plays.

If you keep Stutzle at centre than there is no reason why Formenton & C. Brown wouldn't work with him they have worked together before & done well. C. Brown has almost 40 pts in 64 games, that's not terrible & Formenton might get 40 pts himself next yr too. We all want better forwards to play with him & they may put Batherson with him again, but IMO he does more on his own & doesn't use his linemates as well. He hangs on to the puck for long stretches & players are caught standing around just watching & waiting for him to do something with the puck. Formenton & Brown play well together & well with him & while they might not be a great line they might be his best options for next yr. He's a difficult guy to play with because he is very unpredictable with the puck & hangs on to it for long stretches. And because he loses it a lot he needs a guy like Formenton & Brown who can both get back on defence quickly.

Here's a question, if they win the lottery do they still try & make a move to add a top six forward? Or why lose assets to bring in a player when you might already have someone internally that could fill that role? I would like to see them try a number of guys first before making any moves to bring in someone who could cost a lot & then maybe not work out, we've been down that road a few times.

I can agree with keeping the Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson line together as they work well as a unit. Yes, we could have a Formenton-Stutzle-Brown second line. I hope we could improve on that line by getting a better winger for Stutzle.

If the Senators win the lottery, then Wright should likely be the pick and he could start at wing.

I agree that we should not send assets away in trades for players; we should see what we have next season UNLESS we get an offer we cannot refuse but those types of trades seldom occur.

I think we end up with Jiricek or Savoie. They're the two most likely players to be available at 7. One will be gone but the other will be available.
