Would not be surprised to see Firkus surprise and picked much higher than people have him ranked. Although Bob has him ranked 15 so not surprise to see him go high 1st round.

I'm always left impressed watching him.

Bob has him outside the top 80, he was an honourable mention. Craig Button had him high. Has Goyette as an honourable mention who will be moved up in the same range as well.

He’ll be a late 1st/early 2nd type guy on Bobs list come June/July I’d think

Rutger McGroarty just keeps on scoring goals, has two already with just a couple minutes into the 2nd period.

On both of those goals, Cruz Lucius has made some nice plays. He shows nice patience and playmaking,

Snuggerud has another strong game thus far and had a nice assist on the Will Smith Goal, which hasn't been credited yet.

I would be shocked if Gauthier doesn't get drafted top 10. I could see him even go 6 to 9. I could see NJ falling in love with him, and want to add a goal scoring power forward to that skilled forward group.

Cooley just toying with German team, playing keep away, His strongest showing in the tournament, even though he has only showed up once on the scoresheet.

If Snuggerud can improve his skating just a touch, he will be scary.

Final thought on the USA U18, Nazar is really good. He has drawn many penalties in this game with speed and skill and he is fearless when driving the net.

Nazar is exactly what we need. Would be a perfect fit alongside Tkachuk and Norris.

We'll probably pass him up for Gauthier or Geekie though.

Hi,

We are doing an early mock draft on the Habs board ( HF Habs: - Early Bird Mock Draft 2022 (In 7th Round!) )and I was in charge of Ottawa. I like to post it on the team's board to see how bad/good I did in their opinion. Here is the result:
6. Ottawa: David Jiricek (RD) - HC Skoda Plzen (Czechia)
38. Ottawa: Alexander Perevalov (W) - Yoko Yaroslavl (MHL)
58. Ottawa (TB): Alexander Suzdalev (W) - HV71 (J20)
70. Ottawa: Jordan Gustafson (C) - Seattle (WHL)
90. Ottawa (Boston): Tucker Robertson (F) - Peterborough (OHL)
102. Ottawa: Tomas Hamara (LD) - Tappara (Liiga)
134. Ottawa: Angus Booth (LD) - Shawinigan (QMJHL)
142. Ottawa (Winnipeg): Daniil O. Ivanov (LD) - MHK Spartak Moskva (MHL)
154. Ottawa (Boston): Mikey Milne (W) - Winnipeg (WHL)
166. Ottawa: Mason Beaupit (G) - Spokane (WHL)
205. Ottawa (NYI): Carson Buydens (C) - Virden (MJHL)

The Sens will like Davies in the 2nd half of the draft. He is a violent hitter. This video is a compilation of some of his hits.

I think both Josh Davies and Liam Arnsby will be targets for the Sens in the mid to late rounds of the draft. They are among the best hitters in the draft and fit in pretty strongly with the kind of identity they Sens are trying to build. They are only average height but they are strong and look to have stocky builds. They just seem like the kinds of players that the Sens would really like.

Hypothetical Question

If the Sens were to win the 1OA pick in the lottery do you

1. Pick Wright
2. Pick Slafkovsky
3. Try to trade out for an unprotected 2023 1st + from a team you feel will be pretty bad next year

The 3rd option is fairly enticing in that at least the top 3 next year project better than anyone this year.

Bird in the hand an all, option 3 is pretty similar to the decision we made with 4th OA in 2018 only more extreme.

Think of it this way, lots of teams would have though we were a team they were confident would be not just pretty bad but very bad for the last 2 seasons, we ended up drafting 10OA and will probably end up 7th this year.

If I were particularly high on Slafkovsky, I might explore trading down the one spot, otherwise don't overthink it.

Pick Wright
That’s the traditional play BUT who moves to wing. Wright plays right away so it’s a good problem to have. I was just thinking maybe we could take advantage of Montreal as they are hosting the draft.
