We easily could have finished bottom-5 without blatantly tanking. Now unless we win the lottery the chances we draft a super stud at 7-8 are minimal. Best we can hope for is a decent forward who won't really arrive when we need it most.

Huge missed opportunity.
How?

Forsberg has been great. We had long stretches without Norris, Bath and Chabot and still won games. Joseph came in and was very good right away and has been out ever since.

Stu missed a couple of games...Brannstrom was top pair and 1PP unit.

The list goes on so what would you have done differently? Please show your work.

Huge missed opportunity lol. Tell me how dumb the organization is by not out sucking Philadelphia, Jersey, and Chicago with a relatively easy schedule. Because those teams have been BRUTAL for a few months now.

Ottawa should just start trading guys like Stützle and Norris for futures so they can get a chance at Berard.

I've noticed the skating issues that others on here were pointing out. It will be interesting to see how he performs over the remainder of the U18 tournament and what the scouts think of his play.

Who cares if we're top-5 or top-10 honestly. This draft is loaded in terms of equally decent prospects up to the 20th pick.
Shane Wright being the 1st says it all; he's similar to a guy like Nolan Patrick was.
I have no problem with the team taking a swing for a guy like Yurov, Lekkerimaki, Nazar or Korchinski if we do fall outside the top-5.
Similar to Patrick lol. Really

Sens (69): vs Devils, vs Panthers, @Flyers
Wings (72): @Leafs, @devils
Sabres (73): @Bruins, vs Blackhawks
Ducks (74): @sharks, @Stars

If we go 3-0 to finish the season we could seriously screw ourselves. Otherwise we’re in pretty good shape and should pick 7-9. The real question is whether or not we pass Detroit.

Cutter Gauthier looking very Sens-ish to me at the U18's. He pretty much checks every box - size, impressive agility for a big man, heavy shot, competitive. Some nice signs about his handle and ability to make plays in small spaces too. Looks like a good bet to be a complementary top-9 winger. Very projectable.

If they end up picking at 7, 8, 9 - wouldn't surprise me at all if this is the name at the top of their list. If that's the case, be ready ready for a shitstorm on Twitter.com because this is exactly the type of player that people in the industry love and people on the internet hate.

Just looking at McKenzie's mid-term list and he was already at 13 with some top-10 consideration back then, and that was before he had a big second half. He might even crack the top-10 in the final rankings so probably not even much of a reach.

I also would have loved a top 5 pick after this season, but we're winning games without Chabot and Batherson, not much else to do.

Also our goaltending has been great, so I hope it's given them enough information to get rid of Murray instead of Gus, that in itself is a big win.

Gauthier has a really nice set of hands to go along with his physical tools. The way some people describe his game you'd think he's Boucher.

Another USNTDP guy we could have serious interest in is Snuggerud. Gets overshadowed by the top names but I absolutely love his game.

I’ve not seen a ton of the US kids this year, is Gauthier’s skating still good ?

NGL it does feel we’re due for a « reboot the franchise » lotto win ala Pittsburgh. The hockey gods work in mysterious ways.
Wouldn’t be shocked if Bettman makes the ping pong balls magically bounce the Sens way to entice new ownership…
