What was interesting was the discussion that the BoG were interested in talking about the ownership situation for the Ottawa Senators during their next meeting in June.

Could be for the approval of a sale in June.

Also how do you ban Russian kids from the draft without banning Russian nationals from the NHL or AHL or any of the major junior leagues. Not that surprising news really.

Could be, but I'd be surprised its that frankly. You can't sell the team until the heirs decide what they want to do. The sisters could have already decided for all we know, but then again, maybe not. Any of the trust situations I've been involved with took about 1 to 1.5 years to resolve.

Calling it now we will end up with Nazar
I wouldn't be totally surprised.

The Sens like US Development team talent.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if we walked away with one of Nazar, Snuggerud, or Gauthier at 7 to 9.

Nazar would be fun, because he adds that dimension of generating chances off the rush.

In a paywall article, McCagg says that Nazar has outplayed Cooley in many of the games he has scouted and he doesn't see much separation between the two.

We could do a lot worse than Nazar, I like his upside more than some of the other conventional Ottawa picks like McGroarty or Geekie. Cutter Gauthier also seems like a classic Sens pick and I havent watched enough of him to really compare him to Nazar.

Everyone else doing a good job at tanking except the sens

It's ridiculous. Last year, if we didn't finish so freaking hot, we would have Mason McTavish to look forward to with freaking Stutzle or Hughes/Clarke with Sanderson/Chabot.

Just insane.

Now we could lose out on another really good top 5.

DJ Smith is trash, until he needs to be.

Who remembers this guy putting out Tkachuk before Batherson in the shootout early in the season, then he puts out Batherson before Tkachuk when we no longer need it. Crazy. I'm just praying we get rewarded with lottery luck.

Or we make a really good pick where there's usually a steal type pick around our position.

Heck, if we picked Sillinger a lot of us might be content with picking at 7-8 but Dorion traumatized us with Boucher instead.

Calling it now we are trading our pick for a player

Which might not be a bad idea if we are picking 8

I hear you and then going off the board with 10th pick really made for anti-climatic draft. I targeted several players at 10, watched film and read through draft guides. Boucher wasn't even on my radar.

But overall, the Sens have drafted well recently in the in the 1st round with Tkachuk, Stuetzle, Sanderson, Greig and even Thomson. They should just continue with their process and pick the best player on their list.

The 2019 Draft looked terrible at first and was maligned by posters and internet scouts alike. Who the hell is Lodin? Pinto over Kaliyev? Why did we reach on Thomson? Looking back in hindsight, it may well turnout to be a hell of draft. Thomson, Pinto, Sogarrd, Lodin, Kastelic and Guenette is a hell of a yield and all six have a legitimate claim on eventually being NHL players.

I also wouldn't be totally surprised if Boucher and Ostapchuk have break out years for 2022-2023.

Honestly, when you look at the odds, it really isn't that big of a difference if you finish anywhere from 3rd-7th. Like Seattle has a 10.9% at 1st overall, and we currently have a 6.7% chance at 1st. That really isn't that big of a difference at all. I feel like in terms of the lottery, it really doesn't matter where you finish. If you're not bottom 2 in the league, then there's really not that much of an advantage between 3-7.

Winning odds is similar, but if we lose, we picking 7th/8th. Not 4th.

This Firkus kid really has a wow factor, just so dynamic and skilled. He kind of blew me away with his play at the Top Prospects game. Button was the only scout pumping his tires with mid-term rankings; he had him at 15. He is going to be a huge riser.

Oh and he did this yesterday in the WHL playoffs.
